Honeytribe
Honeytribe is an American blues rock band formed in Saint Louis, Missouri. Its founder and bandleader is Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, who is the lead guitarist, vocalist, and frontman. The other members are George Potsos on bass, and Gabriel Strange on drums In October 2012, Allman confirmed that Honeytribe was going on hiatus, while he continues to tour with Royal Southern Brotherhood and prepares for a tour to support his new solo album. History Honeytribe was formed by Devon Allman in 1999. In 2001, the band broke up so Allman could spend time with his newly born son. They reformed in 2005 and started Honeytribe's path as a career: making records and touring. Space Age Blues
''Space Age Blues'' is the second album by Devon Allman's Honeytribe. It was released in Europe on October 12, 2010, and in the U.S. on October 25, 2010. In addition to the power-trio of Devon Allman, George Potsos and Gabriel Strange, the album also contains appearances by Huey Lewis on harmonica and Ron Holloway on tenor saxophone. Recording The album was recorded in early 2010, at Ardent Studios, Memphis, Tennessee. The band took over Studio C, which they called "The Mothership", and hung colored lights and science-fiction posters to create atmosphere. They even wore authentic NASA spacesuits to get into the spirit. While Huey Lewis and the News were recording in Studio A, Lewis overheard some sounds from Studio C and asked if he could contribute his harmonica to the record. The songs were mixed and engineered by Pete Matthews, and co-produced by Devon Allman and Matthews. Devon Allman
Devon Allman (born August 10, 1972) is an American guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter, and record producer. He is the son of musician Gregg Allman and has appeared occasionally as a guest musician for Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers Band. Allman was the founder and bandleader of Honeytribe, also known as Devon Allman's Honeytribe, with whom he released two albums and toured across North America and Europe. Prior to Honeytribe, Allman contributed to several other musical recordings, notably Vargas Blues Band and the '' A Song for My Father'' compilation album. He was one of the original members of Royal Southern Brotherhood and contributed to their first two studio albums and toured with them. Torch (Honeytribe Album)
Torch is the first album by Devon Allman's Honeytribe. It was originally released in 2006, by Livewire Recordings, then rereleased in 2007 by Provogue Records. Reception Thom Jurek, on AllMusic, said the album "feels like a debut album," but not an "overly impressive debut." Ron Holloway
Ronald Edward Holloway (born August 24, 1953) is an American tenor saxophonist. He is listed in the ''Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz'' where veteran jazz critic Ira Gitler described Holloway as a "Hard bear-down-hard-bopper who can blow authentic R&B and croon a ballad with warm, blue feeling." Holloway is the recipient of 42 Washington Area Music Awards, or Wammies, two of which he received as musician of the year. Hugh Anthony Cregg III (born July 5, 1950), known professionally as Huey Lewis, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Lewis sings lead and plays harmonica for his band, Huey Lewis and the News, in addition to writing or co-writing many of the band's songs. Royal Southern Brotherhood is an American blues and blues rock supergroup, consisting of singer and percussionist Cyril Neville, vocalist and guitarist Devon Allman, vocalist and guitarist Mike Zito, drummer Yonrico Scott, and bassist Charlie Wooton. The band released their debut album on May 8, 2012. History Formation and debut album (2011–2012) Royal Southern Brotherhood came together in New Orleans, Louisiana during 2011. Reuben Williams, manager to both Neville and Zito, had the idea for the band. Gregg Allman
Gregory LeNoir Allman (December 8, 1947 – May 27, 2017) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He was known for performing in the Allman Brothers Band. Allman grew up with an interest in rhythm and blues music, and the Allman Brothers Band fused it with rock music, jazz, and country music, country at times. He wrote several of the band's biggest songs, including "Whipping Post (song), Whipping Post", "Melissa (The Allman Brothers Band song), Melissa", and "Midnight Rider". Allman also had a successful solo career, releasing seven studio albums. He was born and spent much of his childhood in Nashville, Tennessee, before relocating to Daytona Beach, Florida and then Macon, Georgia. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings.
