Honeyroot
Honeyroot is an ambient dance collaboration between Glenn Gregory and Keith Lowndes, signed to the independent record label Just Music. Career The project had its origins in the 1997 album '' Skyscraping'' by ABC. As ABC was essentially Martin Fry, after the departure of founding member Mark White, Lowndes and fellow Sheffield native Gregory of Heaven 17, were brought in for co-songwriting duties on the album. Lowndes and Gregory's first album, ''Sound Echo Location'', was released in the UK and Australia in 2003 and in the US in 2004. Honeyroot reached the UK Singles Chart in May 2005 with their ambient cover version of the Joy Division song "Love Will Tear Us Apart", which also appeared in the Scottish film, '' Red Road''. 2006 saw an online only release entitled "EP1". Glenn Peter Gregory (born 16 May 1958) is a British singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music career spans more than 40 years. Heaven 17 are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1980. The band were a trio for most of their career, composed of founding Human League members Martyn Ware (keyboards, drum machine, vocals) and Ian Craig Marsh (keyboards) with vocalist Glenn Gregory. Although most of their music was recorded in the 1980s, they have occasionally reformed, and played their first live concerts in 1997. ABC are an English pop band which originated in Sheffield in 1980, evolving from the earlier ensemble Vice Versa. They are best known as pioneers of the new wave and sophisti-pop movements, blending synth-pop with orchestral and jazz influences. The band achieved mainstream success with their debut album, ''The Lexicon of Love'' (1982), which featured the hit singles "The Look of Love" and "Poison Arrow" and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. Skyscraping
''Skyscraping'' is the seventh studio album by the English pop band ABC, released in March 1997 by Blatant and Deconstruction. The album was produced as a homage to lead vocalist Martin Fry's several musical heroes, including David Bowie, Roxy Music and the Sex Pistols. It is their first album without founding member, keyboardist and guitarist Mark White, who had up until that point been heavily involved in the composition and production of their work. As the line-up of ABC without White consisted solely of Fry, Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 and Keith Lowndes were brought in as songwriting and performance collaborators. The album was met with positive reviews from critics but little commercial success. Three singles were released: "Stranger Things", " Skyscraping" and " Rolling Sevens". Martin Fry
Martin David Fry (born 9 March 1958) is an English singer. He came to prominence in the early 1980s as co-founder and lead vocalist of the pop band ABC, which released six singles that entered the top 20 charts in the United Kingdom during the 1980s, including " Tears Are Not Enough", "Poison Arrow", " The Look of Love", " All of My Heart", " That Was Then but This Is Now" and " When Smokey Sings". He is the only member who has been with ABC throughout its entire history and is currently its only official member. Kimberly Richey (born December 1, 1956) is an American singer and songwriter. Early life Richey was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on December 1, 1956. She grew up in Kettering, Ohio, graduating from Fairmont East High school in 1973. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a song by English rock music, rock band Joy Division, released on 27 June 1980 as a non-album single. Its lyrics were inspired by lead singer Ian Curtis' marital problems and struggles with epilepsy. The single was released one month after Curtis' suicide. The song was certified Platinum record, double platinum in the UK, selling and streaming over 1,200,000 units, and has an ongoing legacy as a defining song of the era.
