Homenetmen
Homenetmen (, , short for , meaning ''Armenian General Athletic Union'') is a pan-Armenian diaspora organization devoted to sport and scouting. The motto of Homenetmen is "Rise and Raise" (Elevate Yourself and Elevate Others with You) ( ''Partsrathsir Partsratsour''). Foundation Homenetmen was founded 16 November 1918 in Constantinople present-day Istanbul. The idea of a pan-Armenian sports association had been promoted for a number of years by an avid athlete and footballer Shavarsh Krissian who started publishing the Armenian language sports periodical '' Marmnamarz'' in 1911 by financial support of the brothers Levon and Krikor Hagopian and by encouragement of Hovhannes Hintliyan, and writer Hagop Sirouni. On 1 May 1911, the Armenian Olympiad Navasartian Games were launched in Turkey. Shavarsh Krissian
Shavarsh Krissian (22 July 1886 – 15 August 1915) was an athlete, writer, publicist, journalist, educator, and editor of ''Marmnamarz'', the first sports magazine of the Ottoman Empire. He is considered one of the founders of the Armenian Olympics and the Homenetmen Armenian sports organization. He was a victim of the Armenian genocide. Life Of Armenian descent, Shavarsh Krissian was born in the Beşiktaş district of Constantinople on 22 July 1886. He studied at the local Makruhyan Armenian school and continued his education at the prestigious Reteos Berberian school in the Üsküdar district. He later studied and graduated from the Robert College. In 1905 Krissian continued his education in London and the Lycée Janson de Sailly in Paris. On 19 July 1909, he returned to Constantinople and began teaching physical education at local Armenian schools. Hovhannes Hintliyan
Hovhannes Hintliyan (; 1866 in Üsküdar, Ottoman Empire – March 16, 1950, in Istanbul) was an Armenian teacher, pedagogue, publisher, and educator. He was the founder of Nor Tbrots (New School), a prestigious Armenian school in the Pangalti district of Istanbul. Biography Hovhannes Hintliyan was born in 1866 in Üsküdar, a district of Istanbul that is situated on the Asiatic side of the Bosphorus. He attended the prestigious Berberian Varjaran (High School) and studied under his mentor Reteos Berberian (Who was the founder and principal of the school as well). Upon gaining an outstanding reputation at school, he eventually taught at Makrouhian Varjaran in the Beşiktaş district and eventually became the principal of the school. He then taught and at times became principal of the following schools: Surp Haç Tbrevank, Tbrotsaser, Aramyan, Dadyan, and Getronagan.
