Holy Trinity Cathedral (Addis Ababa)
Holy Trinity Cathedral, also known in Amharic as Kidist Selassie, is the highest ranking Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was built to commemorate the Ethiopian victory over Italian occupation and is an important place of worship in Ethiopia, alongside other cathedrals such as the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum. Title The cathedral bears the title "Menbere Tsebaot", or "Pure Altar". Built in 1942, the church compound was the burial place for those who fought against the Italian occupation, or those who accompanied the Emperor Haile Selassie into exile from 1936 to 1941. The Emperor and his consort the Empress Menen Asfaw are buried in the north transept of the cathedral. Other members of the Imperial Family are buried in the crypt below the church. The Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, at 319–337 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City, is a Neo-Byzantine-style Greek Orthodox church. It serves as the national cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and as the episcopal seat of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Holy Trinity Cathedral, Oulu (, ), is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Oulu, Finland. The church is located in the Hollihaka district about one kilometre south of the city centre. The church building was designed by architect Mikko Huhtela and was completed in 1957. The church was consecrated in October 1958 and dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity Cathedral (, ''Katedralen hram "Sveta Troitsa"'') is a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria on the Danube river. It stands next to the modern day opera house. Built beneath the ground in 1632, it is the oldest church in the city and was constructed during the period of Ottoman occupation. As it keeps the holy relics of a number of saints, Ruse's cathedral is often visited by pilgrims. Its rich history and underground interior also pose an interest for tourists, making it one of the main attractions of the city. The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity () is a Serbian Orthodox cathedral church in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It served as the seat of the Eparchy of Zahumlje and Herzegovina from 1873 until its destruction during the siege of Mostar in 1992. The church was the work of the prominent architect Andrey Damyanov. It was built between 1863 and 1873. It has been under reconstruction since 2011. Holy Trinity Cathedral is the seat of the Church of Pakistan, Diocese of Karachi, situated on Fatima Jinnah Road, near Zainab Market, in Karachi, Pakistan. History Established in 1844 and built in 1855, the Holy Trinity Church located on Fatima Jinnah Road, Karachi, is one of the first major churches built in the area. Designed by the Captain of the Bombay Engineers, John Hill, the church had a nave stretching 115 feet, followed by a tower standing at 150 feet tall. The church was built with buff colored Gizri stone and the architectural design made it unique. The church followed a Romanesque layout which made it stand out compared to the buildings located around. At the top of the tower, since there were no lighthouses, it was given beacons to help ships in the Karachi Harbour. The Holy Trinity Cathedral (Russian: Свято-Троицкий собор, Hebrew: קתדרלת השילוש הקדוש) is a cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church, located at the heart of the so-called Russian Compound in central Jerusalem. Holy Trinity Cathedral, in Kowloon, Hong Kong, is a cathedral for the Anglican Eastern Kowloon diocese. It was established in 1890, making it one of the oldest Anglican churches in Hong Kong. Holy Trinity Church, Shanghai ( zh, t=上海聖三一堂, s=上海圣三一堂, p=Shànghǎi shèng sānyī táng), is a Protestant (and formerly Anglican) church in Huangpu District of Shanghai. The church, consecrated in 1869 was designed in a Gothic Revival style by British architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. After 1875, upon the appointment of Bishop William Russell as the first Church of England Bishop in the Diocese of North China, the church was commonly referred to as a cathedral, and the senior priest was known as the Dean. Holy Trinity Cathedral (, ) is the primary Anglican cathedral in Myanmar (Burma), located on Bogyoke Aung San Road (next to Bogyoke Aung San Market) in Latha Township, Yangon. The cathedral was designed by Robert Chisholm (architect), Robert Chisholm, a Madras-based architect, in the Indo-Saracenic style to adapt to warm and humid conditions. Construction began in 1886, with the laying of the foundation stone by Lord Dufferin, the Viceroy of India, and was completed in 1894. The pipe organ was destroyed during the Second World War and could not be restored so an electric substitute organ was installed. The stained glass windows were repaired in 2003. The cathedral is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.
