"Holly Rock" is a song written and produced by Prince (musician), Prince and performed by Sheila E. who also received writing and production credits. The song appeared on the soundtrack of the 1985 film ''Krush Groove'', with Sheila E. performing the song in the film. It is a high-energy rap number with Sheila E. rapping throughout most of the song. The song did not chart except in the Low Countries, but it became a fan favorite. Sheila Cecilia Escovedo (born December 12, 1957), known under the stage name Sheila E., is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Regarded as one of the greatest musicians of her generation; she is known for skills as a multi-instrumentalist, often preferring to play drums or percussion. She is sometimes referred to as the "Queen of Percussion". Her music incorporated a wide variety of styles, including R&B, funk, jazz, pop, synth-pop, latin pop, and salsa. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Sheila began her music career as a percussionist for the George Duke Band in 1976. She departed from the band in 1980. ''Romance 1600'' is the second album by the singer-drummer-percussionist Sheila E. While the album is credited as arranged, produced, and written by Sheila E., it is commonly acknowledged to be mostly arranged, produced, and written by Prince. His contributions are most notable on the song "A Love Bizarre", a 12-minute epic that became a major hit in its edited radio-friendly form. Eddie Mininfield, known as Eddie M, is an American musician. As a saxophonist, he was a member of Sheila E's touring band, and also toured with Prince on his Purple Rain Tour. Early life Eddie M was born and raised in Berkeley, California. He began playing saxophone at the age of seven and studied at U.C. Berkeley’s Music Program before graduating from Berkeley High School in 1979. The Linn LM-1 Drum Computer is a drum machine manufactured by Linn Electronics and released in 1980. It was the first drum machine to use samples of acoustic drums, and one of the first programmable drum machines. Its designer, the American engineer Roger Linn, wanted a machine that would produce more realistic drum sounds and offer more than preset patterns. The LM-1 became a staple of 1980s pop music and helped establish drum machines as credible tools. ''Originals'' is a posthumous demo album by American musician Prince, released through Warner Records on June 7, 2019 (on what would have been Prince's 61st birthday), exclusively through Tidal, with a wide release following on June 21, 2019. All except for Prince's recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U", which was first officially released in 2018, were previously unreleased. ''Krush Groove'' is a 1985 American musical comedy-drama film distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures that was written by Ralph Farquhar and directed by Michael Schultz (who also produced the movie, along with George Jackson and Doug McHenry).
