Hollow Realm
Talons are a 6-piece instrumental band from Hereford. They formed in 2008, having previously played together in bands belonging to the Hereford music scene. Career Talons formed in 2008 as a reincarnation of an older band, Kites, with an altered line up. They signed to Big Scary Monsters in 2009, releasing their debut single, "The Pearl" in late summer. Once the band began to tour heavily, they released three singles in the buildup to a full-length record. An anthology of all Talons' work prior to Hollow Realm was released, entitled Commemorations. The band recorded their debut album, '' Hollow Realm'' in the summer of 2010, with Tom Woodhead ( Forward Russia) at the helm as producer. It was released in November 2010, the CD released by Big Scary Monsters and 12" vinyl by Topshelf Records. It received critical acclaim, notably by Mike Diver for BBC Music and Drowned In Sound. Hereford
Hereford ( ) is a cathedral city and the county town of the ceremonial county of Herefordshire, England. It is on the banks of the River Wye and lies east of the border with Wales, north-west of Gloucester and south-west of Worcester. Holy Roar Records
Holy Roar Records was an independent record label run by Alex Fitzpatrick. The label began in January 2006 and put out its first release, the Phoenix Bodies album, Raise the Bullshit Flag in June 2006. Fitzpatrick originally joked that the name was derived from a vision he had while using the hallucinogen LSD. According to Fitzpatrick, the name “Holy Roar” was derived from a Torche song with the same title. History Holy Roar Records was formed at the beginning of 2006, when Alex Fitzpatrick moved to London. After previously trialling “the communion” with friends in Birmingham during his university days, he and his girlfriend at the time, Ellen Godwin decided to start up a record label. Utilising a loan, they released and promoted Rolo Tomassi (their first “proper” EP), Phoenix Bodies (a grind/punk crossover band) and a split between the bands, Kayo Dot and Bloody Panda. ¡Forward, Russia! are an English rock band from Leeds, active between 2004 and 2008, before re-forming in 2013. The band's debut album, ''Give Me a Wall'', was released in 2006. Until 2006, the band only named tracks with numbers, in the order that they were written. The band had used faux Cyrillic, with its name occasionally typeset as ¡FФЯWДЯD, RUSSIД!. The band went on hiatus after the release of their second album, ''Life Processes'', in 2008. They re-formed in 2013 for a show at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds in November 2013 for its 10th anniversary, and then played the Live at Leeds Festival at Leeds Town Hall in 2014. Big Scary Monsters Recording Company (often known simply as Big Scary Monsters or BSM Records) is an independent record label based in Oxford, England.
