Calling All Cars (band)
Calling All Cars is an Australian Alternative rock band from Melbourne, Victoria and consists of brothers Haydn and James Ing, along with Adam Montgomery. The band have been heavily touring for the past 10 years, released 3 acclaimed albums and have received considerable rotation on Australian radio, including 'album of the week' on Triple J. The band was named after The Sopranos episode, ' Calling All Cars History 2005–2009: Beginnings Calling All Cars formed in 2005 with brothers Haydn and James Ing and friend Matt Lonergan, who was eventually replaced with Adam Montgomery. Haydn and James grew up in Narooma, New South Wales before moving permanently to Melbourne. The band gradually progressed through live performances with acts like Cog (band), Cog and The Butterfly Effect on national tours. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Shock Records was an Australian independent record label, branded with the logo Shock or Shock Australia. Founded in 1988, it traded as Shock Records Pty. Ltd, and its publishing arm as Shock Music Publishing Pty. Ltd. Its most prominent sublabel was Permanent Records. After going into receivership in August 2010, company assets were bought by Regency Media Group, and the company was rebranded Shock Entertainment. Regency Media folded in February 2023. History Shock Records was founded in 1988 by David Williams, Frank Falvo, and Andrew McGee. They had all previously worked in music retail or distribution: Williams for a Melbourne distribution company called "Musicland"; Falvo for Exposure Records; and McGee for Greville Records. Tom Larkin (musician)
Tom Larkin (born 18 September 1971) is a New Zealand musician and record producer. He is the drummer, backing vocalist and a founding member of the alternative rock band Shihad. He grew up in Wellington, New Zealand but now lives in Melbourne in Australia. Early life and family Larkin was born in Wellington, New Zealand, to Thomas Cedric Larkin and Sarah Marianne Williams. As a kid, he often played the drums so loud in his parents big Kelburn house in Wellington, that the neighbours sometimes complained. While at school at Wellington High in the late 1980s he met Jon Toogood and together they former Shihad back in 1988. The first gig was at the Clarendon Tavern in Courtenay Place which was the first of thousands of live gigs performed by the band over many years. Rock music in Australia, also known as Oz rock, Australian rock, and Aussie rock, has a rich history, rooted in an appreciation of various rock genres originating in the United States and Britain, and to a lesser extent, in continental Europe and Africa.
