Hoang Tu Duy
Hoàng Tứ Duy (also known as Duy "Dan" Hoang) is a Vietnamese-born American democracy activist. He is currently the executive director for Viet Tan, an unsanctioned pro-democracy political movement in Vietnam. Before becoming a full-time democracy activist, he worked as an investment banker for over 10 years. He has testified before US Congressional committees on human rights issues and written for the Wall Street Journal, Asia Times Online and leading Vietnamese-language publications. He currently lives in Washington, D.C. Early life and career Born in Saigon, he left Vietnam in April 1975 at the age of three. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Davis and an MBA from the University of Chicago. The Central Highlands (), South Central Highlands (), Western Highlands () or Midland Highlands () is a region located in the south central part of Vietnam. It contains the provinces of Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Lâm Đồng. The Vietnam Reform Revolutionary Party or the Việt Tân () is an organisation that aims to establish liberal democracy and reform Vietnam through peaceful and political means. The organization was founded on September 10, 1982, with Vice-admiral Hoàng Cơ Minh elected as chairman, which operated underground for two decades. On September 19, 2004, then-chairman Nguyễn Kim introduced Việt Tân as a public organization. Việt Tân's activities are rooted in the promotion of non-violent political change in Vietnam. The organization is outlawed in Vietnam and the government of Vietnam considers it "a terrorist force". Do Hoang Diem (Đỗ Hoàng Điềm, also known as Diem Do) is the former chairman of the pro-democracy party Việt Tân. He is a prominent leader in the Vietnamese democracy movement. Early life and career Do Hoang Diem attended the University of Houston to earn his MBA. After graduating business school in 1987, he worked as an executive in industries including banking, entertainment, health care and electronics.
