Ho Polytechnic
Ho Technical University, formerly Ho Polytechnic, is a public tertiary institution in the Volta Region of Ghana. The Polytechnic started in 1968 as a technical institute with the primary goal of providing pre-technical education. By 1972, the Institute made tremendous progress and upgraded its courses. In 1986, the institution was upgraded into a Polytechnic. However, it was not until 1993 that it got full backing of the law (Polytechnic Law 321) to become a fully-fledged tertiary institution, charged with the responsibility of training students to the Higher National Diploma (HND) and Degree Levels. The Polytechnic Law (PNDC Law 321) was replaced in September 2007 by the Polytechnics Act (Act 745). Ho Technical University is one of the premier national tertiary institutions in the Volta Region. Ho, Ghana
Ho is the capital of the Ho Municipal Assembly and the Volta Region of Ghana. The city lies between Mount Adaklu and Mount Galenukui or Togo Atakora Range, and is home to the Volta Regional Museum, a cathedral, and a prison. The population of Ho Municipality according to the 2010 Population and Housing Census is 177,281 representing 8.4 percent of the region's total population. Education in Ghana uses a dualistic approach encompassing both formal and informal learning systems. The current formal educational system was introduced during European colonisation. However, learning systems existed prior to that. The Moliyili, University of Moliyili is one of the earliest learning centers in Ghana established in the 1700s. During colonisation, Scramble for Africa, European settlers initially introduced a formal education system addressed to the elit while education of the average citizen was mainly informal, and based on apprenticeship. Maureen Abla Amematekpor (born 1954) is a retired Ghanaian diplomat and a former Ghana Ambassador to Namibia and Botswana. Career Amematekpor was a lecturer at Ho Polytechnic from 1979 to 1992. Ceramic
A ceramic is any of the various hard, brittle, heat-resistant, and corrosion-resistant materials made by shaping and then firing an inorganic, nonmetallic material, such as clay, at a high temperature.
