Hitman (2007 Film)
''Hitman'' is a 2007 action-thriller film directed by Xavier Gens from a screenplay by Skip Woods. Produced by Luc Besson, it is based on the Hitman (franchise), video game series of the same name. The film stars Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47, a professional hitman engineered to be an assassin by the Organization. He becomes ensnared in a political conspiracy and finds himself pursued by both Interpol and the Federal Security Service, FSB. Dougray Scott and Olga Kurylenko star in supporting roles. An international co-production between France, the United States and the United Kingdom, ''Hitman'' was released by 20th Century Fox in the US on November 21, 2007, followed by the UK on November 30 and France on December 26. Xavier Gens (; born on ) is a French film director, screenwriter and producer. Career Gens directed three short films in his native language, ''BTK – Born to Kast'' (2000), ''Au petit matin'' (2005) and ''Sable noir'' (2006), before being hired by 20th Century Studios, 20th Century Fox to direct his debut English-language film, ''Hitman (2007 film), Hitman'' (2007). The same year, he directed his first French-language feature, ''Frontier(s)''. In October 2007, a few weeks before the film's release, reports came in that Fox had turned down the version that Gens submitted to them.
