''His Last Twelve Hours'' (, ) is a 1951 French-Italian drama film directed by Luigi Zampa and starring Jean Gabin, Mariella Lotti and Elli Parvo. The film's sets were designed by the art director Gastone Medin. It was shot at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia near Cinecittà in Rome.Chiti & Poppi p.139 Plot Died in a car accident, the wealthy footwear industrialist Carlo Bacchi finds himself in the afterlife, where he is condemned to hell for having committed evil when he was alive. Defending himself from the accusation in a passionate harangue, however, he manages to get back to earth for a few hours, in order to repair the evil committed and above all the bad deed that caused Amedeo Santini's attempted suicide. Luigi Zampa
Luigi Zampa (2 January 1905 – 16 August 1991) was an Italian film director. Biography Son of a worker, Zampa studied filmmaking from 1932 to 1937 at the Italian film school in Rome. He directed several Italian neorealism films in the 1940s. In 1949 he filmed ''Alarm Bells'' on Ischia, and also shot a separate British version under the title ''Children of Chance (1949 film), Children of Chance''. During the 1950s and 1960s, he became a director of several successful films belonging to the Commedia all'italiana genre, some starring Alberto Sordi. The (; CSC), also referred to as the (), is an Italian national film school headquartered in Rome, with satellite educational hubs in five other Italian regions. It was established in 1935 and aims to promote the art and technique of cinematography and film. History The center is the oldest film school in Western Europe. Pietro Mario Pastore, also known as Piero Pastore (3 April 1903 – 8 January 1968) was an Italian professional footballer who played as a striker; he later became an actor. Football career Pastore was the youngest ever player to play for Juventus FC at the age of 15 years, 222 days. Paola Borboni (1 January 1900 – 9 April 1995) was an Italian stage and film actress whose career spanned nearly eight decades of cinema. Early life Borboni was born on 1 January 1900 in Parma, Italy. Career Borboni made her stage debut in 1916, beginning to take minor film roles soon afterwards. She entered film in 1916 in the silent picture '' Jacobo Ortis'' directed by Giuseppe Sterni, and made over 80 film appearances between then and 1990. Antonella Lualdi
Antonella Lualdi (born Antonietta de Pascale, 6 July 1931 – 10 August 2023) was an Italian actress and singer. She appeared in many Italian and French films in the 1950s and 1960s, notably in Claude Autant-Lara's film ''The Red and the Black'' in 1954. Life and career Lualdi began her career in 1949, after having won a contest for new talents of the cinema magazine ''Hollywood'', in which she was presented as "Signorina X" ("Miss X"), inviting the readers to choose her stage name. After having starred with him in several films, she married Italian actor Franco Interlenghi in 1955; the couple had two daughters, Stella and Antonellina, an actress in her own right.
