Hippa Adactyla
''Hippa adactyla'' is a species of small, sand-burrowing decapod crustacean found living along the coasts of Indo-West Pacific waters. It is found on exposed sandy beaches in the swash region of the intertidal zone. Description A small crustacean. Carapace ovate, more long than wide; neotype measurements: 25.1 mm × 22.5 mm. Females tends to have larger bodies than males; on the southern coast of Java, the carapace length is 17.6–34.9 mm in females or 18.1–27.7 in males. According to Haig (1974): :"Carapace densely covered with sharply serrate, transverse lines. Frontal margin five-toothed; outer pair narrow, triangular, and sharp-pointed, and in adults projecting well beyond inner ones; inner pair rounded; between them a small median denticle, broadly triangular and scarcely produced. A row of 50–55 shallow, setiferous, slightly elongate pits near each lateral margin, forming a narrow band. Antennal flagellum with 3–6 articles, the number increasing wit ...

Emerita (crustacean)
''Emerita'' is a small genus of decapod crustaceans, known as sand crabs, or mole crabs. These small animals burrow in the sand in the swash zone and use their antennae for filter feeding. Description ''Emerita'' has a barrel-shaped body. It has a tough exoskeleton and can hold its appendages close to the body, allowing it to roll in the tidal currents and waves. It has feathery antennae, which are used to filter plankton and detritus from the swash. Males are typically smaller than females, and in some species, such as ''Emerita rathbunae'', the minute males live attached to the legs of the female. Females are around in carapace length, depending on the species, while males vary from a similar size to females in '' E. austroafricana'', down to carapace length in ''E. rathbunae'' and '' E. talpoida''. Distribution The genus as a whole has a broad distribution in tropical and subtropical regions. Most individual species, however, are restricted to smaller areas, and their r ...

Johan Christian Fabricius
Johan Christian Fabricius (7 January 1745 – 3 March 1808) was a Danish zoology, zoologist, specialising in "Insecta", which at that time included all arthropods: insects, arachnids, crustaceans and others. He was a student of Carl Linnaeus, and is considered one of the most important entomologists of the 18th century, having named nearly 10,000 species of animals, and established the basis for the modern insect Biological classification, classification. Biography Johan Christian Fabricius was born on 7 January 1745 at Tønder in the Duchy of Schleswig, where his father was a doctor. He studied at the gymnasium (school), gymnasium at Altona, Hamburg, Altona and entered the University of Copenhagen in 1762. Later the same year he travelled together with his friend and relative Johan Zoëga to Uppsala University, Uppsala, where he studied under Carl Linnaeus for two years. On his return, he started work on his , which was finally published in 1775. Throughout this time, he remaine ...
