Hipodil (single)
''Hipodil'' is a promotional two-track EP by the Bulgarian rock band of the same name in 2002. The EP is widely known by the name of its first track "Skakauec" (Grasshopper). It was the last official release by the band under the Hipodil name and was sent to radio stations. The song was inspired by an incident on the ''Wheel of Fortune''-style game show ''Risk pecheli, risk gubi!'' in 2000. A contestant from Pernik was asked to guess the word "СКА_А_Е_", and after responding in the negative to an offer for a "joker", he answered "скакалец", although his accent made the word sound like (standard pronunciation is ) - the word turned out to be "скарабей" (scarab, a beetle or an ancient Egyptian artefact). Hipodil
Hipodil ( bg, Хиподил ) was a Bulgarian rock band, founded in the late 1980s in Sofia by four classmates from the local Mathematics High School. Hipodil's popularity was based in large on their aggressive, sarcastic, sometimes vulgar and explicit but yet humorous lyrics. Because of that Hipodil were known as a "scandalous and rebellious" band. Their main goal was to entertain the listener and themselves; most of the lyrics concerned topics such as alcohol, sex, women, the status quo, etc.; they frequently ridiculed famous Bulgarian and non-Bulgarian people and even politicians (and sometimes songs). Nevertheless, the band had some pretty serious tracks with complex and socially oriented lyrics. All the lyrics were in Bulgarian and were written by vocalist Svetoslav Vitkov (''Svetlyo''). Hora ot naroda ( bg, Хора от народа) is the fifth and final album by Bulgarian rock band Hipodil. Released on 4 December 2000, the album had guest vocalists due to bandleader Svetoslav Vitkov moving to the US to find work, so they recruited vocalists for some tracks from other Bulgarian rock bands (most notably Petar Stanoev and Nikolai Yordanov from Kontrol). Other tracks on the album were sung by keyboardist Ventsislav Mitsov, who was deputised to the bandleader position while Vitkov was in America. Vitkov himself had already recorded lead vocal tracks for the tracks "Drugo nyama" and "Partizani", and appears as a backing vocalist in "Choveche". ''Tu'pest'' is a greatest hits compilation of the Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released in 2000 under the Riva Sound label, the band's fifth and last release with that company. The name is a pun - from ''tup'' - Bulgarian for "dumb", and ''-est'', the superlative suffix in English as in "the best". The main purpose of the release was to finally offer most of the early hits by the band on a CD as Hipodil's first three albums were released on audio cassettes only. Despite the CD release however most of the tracks were hardly remastered and still sound pretty similar to the original versions. It was also Hipodil's first appearance on CD. As there are no singles in the classic meaning of the term and no verifiable sales or airplay charts in Bulgaria and Bulgarian record companies do not report sales figures it is also impossible to assess the commercial success of the songs in this compilation. Pernik ( bg, Перник ) is a town in western Bulgaria (about south-west of Sofia) with a population of 70,285 . Pernik is the most populated town in western Bulgaria after Sofia. Scarabs were popular amulets and impression seals in ancient Egypt. They survive in large numbers and, through their inscriptions and typology, are an important source of information for archaeologists and historians of the ancient world. They also represent a significant body of ancient art. MusicBrainz is a MetaBrainz project that aims to create a collaborative music database that is similar to the freedb project. MusicBrainz was founded in response to the restrictions placed on the Compact Disc Database (CDDB), a database for software applications to look up audio CD information on the Internet. MusicBrainz has expanded its goals to reach beyond a CD metadata (this is information about the performers, artists, songwriters, etc.) storehouse to become a structured online database for music.
