Hinterland (TV Series)
''Hinterland'' in the original Welsh language version is a Welsh Language noir police procedural series broadcast on S4C in Welsh from 29 October 2013. The main character, DCI Tom Mathias, is played by Richard Harrington. On 27 November 2013, a second series was announced by S4C. The English-language version, with brief passages of Welsh dialogue, aired on BBC One Wales. When it was shown on the BBC in 2014, it was the first BBC television drama with dialogue in both English and Welsh. A third series of the show began filming in January 2016 and debuted on S4C on 30 October. The programme is set in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales, and the three series were filmed in and around the town, often in rural locations. The critical reaction to ''Hinterland'' was favourable. Swyddfa'r Sir
is a Grade II listed former hotel, former main offices of Ceredigion County Council and former Magistrates Court building located in Aberystwyth, well known as the outside of the police station in the BBC Wales police television series '' Y Gwyll (Hinterland)''. History Originally constructed as a detached hotel on the town's seafront, it was opened in 1866 by the Hafod Hotel Company as the "Queen's Hotel". Designed by C. Forster Hayward of Hayward & Davis in the then popular symmetrical Hôtel de Ville style, it was a smaller-scale version of his earlier 1863 Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth. The five storey premises – basement, ground floor plus three upper floors – created a total floor area of , providing 83 bedrooms. Rhodri Talfan Davies (born 9 February 1971) is a Welsh media executive. He is Director of Nations at the BBC and was the director of BBC Cymru Wales from 2011-2020. He is a former journalist and communications executive. Personal life and education Davies was born in Cardiff in 1971 to Elizabeth Siân Vaughan Yorath and Geraint Talfan Davies, the chairman of Welsh National Opera and a former controller of BBC Cymru Wales. His grandfather Aneirin Talfan Davies (1909–1980) was a poet, broadcaster and literary critic.
