Hino Profia
The Hino Profia ( ja, 日野プロフィア) is a heavy duty cab-over truck produced by Hino Motors, a 50.1% subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. It was introduced in 1981. In most export markets, it is also known as the Hino 700. The name ''Profia'' is officially used in Japan, and was previously known as the Super Dolphin Profia. The Hino F-Series truck's model codes are FN, FP, FR, FS, and FW. The tractor head model codes are SH and SS. Predecessors Super Dolphin (1981–1992) Introduced in 1981, the Super Dolphin was Hino's entry into the heavy duty truck market in Japan, and exported internationally. Super Dolphin Profia (1992–2003) Introduced in May 1992 as a model change of the Super Dolphin. It is equivalent to the second generation of Super Dolphin. The styling has been redesigned to follow the cruising ranger style. Hino Motors, Ltd., commonly known as Hino, is a Japanese manufacturer of commercial vehicles and diesel engines (including those for trucks, buses and other vehicles) headquartered in Hino, Tokyo. The Hino Ranger ( ja, 日野レンジャー) is a medium or heavy duty commercial truck manufactured by Japanese automobile manufacturer Hino Motors since 1964. Outside of Japan, it is also known as the '500 Series' and as part of the 'F-Series,' 'G-Series' and 'S-Series'. There has also been a partial divergence into a heavier and a lighter range, with the latter distinguished by various prefixes or suffixes such as "Day Cab Ranger" or "Ranger 2". Cab-over, also known as cab over engine (COE), cab forward (U.S.), flat nose (Canada), or forward control (UK), is a body style of truck, bus, or van that has a vertical front, "flat face" or a semi-hood, with the cab of the truck sitting above (or forward of) the front axle. This contrasts with a conventional truck where the engine is mounted in front of the driver. This truck configuration is currently common among European and Asian truck manufacturers. European regulations set restrictions for both the total length and the length of the load area, which allow a cab length of in combination with the maximum load area length.
