Hindustani Academy
Hindustani Academy is an autonomous literary organization runs under the Language Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 1927, it is based in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The organization is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and development of languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Braj Bhasha, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Bundeli, etc., and their respective literature. History Hindustani Academy, situated in Prayagraj, was founded by the Government of the United Province on January 22, 1927. The inauguration ceremony took place on March 29, 1927, in Lucknow, with the then Governor William Morris presiding over the event. Hindustani Academy was founded with the assistance of the then Education Minister of the United Provinces, Rajeshwar Bali, Pandit Yajnanarayan Upadhyay from Banaras, Hafiz Hidayat Hussain and Tej Bahadur Sapru. Premchand
Dhanpat Rai Srivastava (31 July 1880 – 8 October 1936), better known by his pen name Premchand (), was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindustani literature. Premchand was a pioneer of Hindi and Urdu social fiction. He was one of the first authors to write about caste hierarchies and the plights of women and labourers prevalent in the society of late 1880s. He is one of the most celebrated writers of the Indian subcontinent, and is regarded as one of the foremost Hindi writers of the early twentieth century. His works include '' Godaan'', '' Karmabhoomi'', '' Gaban'', ''Mansarovar'', '' Idgah''. He published his first collection of five short stories in 1907 in a book called ''Soz-e-Watan''. He began writing under the pen name "Nawab Rai", but subsequently switched to "Premchand". ''Hans'' is the oldest and one of the most prestigious literary magazine, in Hindi language. History Established by Premchand Dhanpat Rai Srivastava (31 July 1880 – 8 October 1936), better known by his pen name Premchand (), was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindustani literature. Premchand was a pioneer of Hindi and Urdu social fiction. He was one of ... in 1930, it had Mahatma Gandhi in its editorial board and continued till 1956, when it was shut down by Amrit Rai, due to financial woes. The magazine was revived in 1986 by Rajendra Yadav, a noted short-story writer and novelist. His daughter Rachana, was bequeathed the ownership, after his death in 2013. Jagadish Gupta Jagadish Gupta (5 July 1886 – 15 April 1957) was an Indian poet, novelist and short story writer. Known for his realistic view of life, strange character portrayal and unique narrative style, he was one of the major exponents of modern Bengali literature. Born as Jagadish Chandra Sengupta in Kushtia, Bengal Presidency, he studied in Calcutta and later took up work as a 'job-typist' at the Judge's Court in Suri, Birbhum, Seuri. He also worked at Executive Engineer's office in Sambalpur, Orissa, at Patna High Court and at Bolpur Chawki Adalat as a typist. After retirement from his job, he settled in Calcutta.
