Hilly Fields, Colchester
Hilly Fields is a 37.5 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Colchester, Essex. It is owned and managed by Colchester Borough Council. It is also a scheduled monument as it is in a late Iron Age site and Roman Camulodunum. The site has diverse habitats of grassland, woods, hedges, scrub, ponds, and marsh. The grassland is grazed by rabbits, and invertebrates include minotaur beetles and beewolf wasps. Hilly Fields, Lewisham
Hilly Fields is located in Ladywell ward in Lewisham, South East London, and is managed by the London Borough of Lewisham. Preserved as a park through the efforts of Octavia Hill, the park was opened in 1896. Origins By the late 19th century, Deptford Common had been lost to developers. The philanthropist Octavia Hill was active in Deptford, and learnt of building proposals in the Hilly Fields area. Supported by the Commons Preservation Society, the Kyrle Society and the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association Hill formed a committee in 1889 to secure the preservation of the area as a public park. Hill's committee succeeded in getting the London County Council to open the park in 1896, the same year that the National Trust acquired its first property, Alfriston Clergy House; Hill was one of the three co-founders of the Trust. Hillyfields, Derbyshire
North Wingfield is a large village and civil parish in the North East Derbyshire district in the county of Derbyshire, England. Located approximately 4½ miles south-east of Chesterfield, and 1 mile north-east of Clay Cross. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 6,505. The A6175 road from the M1 motorway to the A61 road runs through the village. The village contains the former hamlets of Hepthorne Lane, Hillyfields, Highfields and Church Hill. The Hepthorne Lane area is still called by its name by local residents, as are the Highfields and Church Hill areas. The River Rother flows through the village at the bottom of Hepthorne Lane, next to the Midland Main Line. Nick Nicely
Nickolas Laurien (born 1959), known professionally as Nick Nicely (stylised nick nicely), is an English singer-songwriter who records psychedelic and electronic music. He is best known for his 1982 single "Hilly Fields (1892)". Nicely released only one other record in the early 1980s, the single "D.C.T. Dreams", before retreating from the music industry. The influence of "Hilly Fields" has been noted on Bevis Frond, Robyn Hitchcock, Robert Wyatt, and XTC's psychedelic alter egos the Dukes of Stratosphear, as well as the hypnagogic pop movement of the 2000s. Nicely was born in Greenland during a transatlantic flight layover and grew up in Hitchin, a town near London. In the late 1980s, he became involved with the burgeoning acid house and rave scene in the UK. Hilly Flanks
The Hilly Flanks are the upland areas surrounding the Fertile Crescent of Southwest Asia, including the foothills of the Zagros Mountains, the Taurus Mountains, and the highland parts of the Levant. The Hilly Flanks foothill chain spans over 1000 miles, including parts of Turkey, northwestern Iraq, and western Iran. The region is just north of Mesopotamia, with similar characteristics of fertility with the added trait of foothills and plateaus. The term was coined by Robert Braidwood in 1948. He proposed that the Neolithic Revolution began in the Hilly Flanks because these areas received enough rainfall for agriculture without irrigation. He also observed that many of the wild progenitors of domesticated crops had their natural habitats in the Hilly Flanks, as did wild sheep and goat.
