Hilde Mæhlum
Hilde Mæhlum, (born 19 March 1945 in Notodden, Norway) is a Norwegian sculptor. She lives and works in Oslo. She is purchased by the National Gallery of Norway, and has had numerous solo exhibitions. Hilde Mæhlum is working with visualization of ''communication'' or ''lack of communication'' between people. She is especially known for the sculptures of ''masks'' and ''sculptures of faces''. Hilde Mæhlum has her education from Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo from 1965 to 1968, the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts, Oslo from 1968 to 1975 in addition to shorter education in Dublin and New York. Notodden
is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Aust-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Notodden. Other population centres include the villages of Bolkesjø, Gransherad, Heddal, Hjuksebø, Hjuksevelta, Rudsgrendi, Tinnoset, and Yli. The National Gallery () is a gallery in Oslo, Norway. Since 2003 it is administratively a part of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. History It was established in 1842 following a parliamentary decision from 1836. Originally located in the Royal Palace, Oslo, it got its own museum building in 1882, designed by Heinrich Ernst and Adolf Schirmer. Norwegian National Academy Of Fine Arts
The Norwegian National Academy of Arts () was a former Norwegian tertiary institution in Oslo, offering studies in the area of fine art. Along with four other academies, it merged to form the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (, KHiO) in 1996. Although now a faculty of KHiO, the Norwegian National Academy of the Arts is still referred to simply as ''Kunstakademiet'' () by both staff and students. Bærums Verk
Bærums Verk is a village in Bærum in Akershus, Norway, with a population of about 8000. It is located on both sides of the river Lomma. History Iron ore was found in the areas now known as Kirkerud and Eineåsen in Bærum in 1603 and 1604, and in 1610 Christian IV granted Paul Smelter the right to build, at his own expense, a foundry in the area. The first foundry was built near the farm of Wøyen, further downriver from today's Bærums Verk, and then another one at Gommerud, closer. In 1615 Smelter bought several farms at the present site and consolidated the foundry in one center. This was unusual practice at the time, but turned out to be successful. All other foundries in Oslo, Aker, and Bærum were shut down as a consequence, and Smelter achieved a virtual monopoly in the Oslo area. Stavanger, officially the Stavanger Municipality, is a city and municipalities of Norway, municipality in Norway. It is the third largest city and third largest metropolitan area in Norway (through conurbation with neighboring Sandnes) and the administrative center of Rogaland county. Granite
Granite ( ) is a coarse-grained (phanerite, phaneritic) intrusive rock, intrusive igneous rock composed mostly of quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase. It forms from magma with a high content of silica and alkali metal oxides that slowly cools and solidifies underground. It is common in the continental crust of Earth, where it is found in igneous intrusions. Marble
Marble is a metamorphic rock consisting of carbonate minerals (most commonly calcite (CaCO3) or Dolomite (mineral), dolomite (CaMg(CO3)2) that have recrystallized under the influence of heat and pressure. It has a crystalline texture, and is typically not Foliation (geology), foliated (Layered intrusion, layered), although there are exceptions. Ekebergparken Sculpture Park is a sculpture park and a national heritage park close to Ekebergrestauranten with a panoramic view of the city at Ekeberg in the southeast of the city of Oslo, Norway.Map on Ekebergparken's website The Sculpture Park has been initiated and financed by property director and art collector Christian Ringnes (born 1954).
