Hiili Hiilesmaa
Kai "Hiili" Hiilesmaa (born December 1966) is a Finnish record producer and musician. He is the vocalist of the rock band The Skreppers, former drummer of the doom metal band KYPCK and former keyboardist of the rock band Daniel Lioneye. He has worked with several internationally recognized rock groups, including his near 20-year association with Finnish band HIM. Hiilesmaa began producing music professionally in 1995, recording with such bands as HIM, Amorphis and Apocalyptica. His trademarks include heavy, overdriven guitar sounds and experimental synthesiser programming. In 2013, Hiilesmaa addressed his preference for analog recording, saying "I prefer analog these days. Not only the sound, it asks more attitude to work with analog. Also you must make up your mind faster. There is no 'undo' in analog, which is often good." KYPCK
KYPCK ( Volapuk rendition from Russian " Курск", "Kursk" in the Western Alphabet) is a Finnish doom metal band. They were formed in 2007 and sing entirely in Russian. The band is composed of singer Erkki Seppänen, ex-Sentenced members Sami Lopakka and Sami Kukkohovi (guitar), bassist Jaakko Ylä-Rautio, and drummer Antti Karihtala, who replaced original drummer Hiili Hiilesmaa. History KYPCK formed in 2007. The band's vocalist Erkki Seppänen speaks fluent Russian after his years at Oxford University and working in the Finnish embassy in Moscow. Amorphis
Amorphis is a Finnish progressive metal band founded by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari, and Esa Holopainen in 1990. Initially, the band was a death metal act, but on later albums they evolved into playing other genres, including progressive metal, folk metal, and melodic death metal. They frequently use the ''Kalevala'', the epic poem of Finland, as a source for their lyrics. ''Far from the Sun'' is the sixth studio album by Finnish progressive metal band Amorphis. It was the first album to feature drummer Jan Rechberger since 1994's ''Tales from the Thousand Lakes'', replacing Pekka Kasari who had quit the band to spend more time with his family. It was their last album to feature Pasi Koskinen on vocals. The American release is packaged in a slipcase and features five bonus tracks and a video for "Evil Inside". The song, "Darkrooms" is also a bonus track for the Japanese edition. The album was re-released in Europe in 2008 by Nuclear Blast. This new version includes all the bonus tracks that were previously only available on the American version and also has new artwork. ''My Kantele'' is the second EP by Finnish progressive metal band Amorphis, released in 1997. It is not to be confused with the recording "My Kantele" from the album ''Elegy'', which is not on this compilation, although the title is still used as it contains the acoustic version of "My Kantele" and four previously unreleased songs. Elegy (Amorphis Album)
''Elegy'' is the third studio album by Finnish progressive metal band Amorphis. It is their first to feature a majority of clean vocals, sung by new vocalist Pasi Koskinen. This also marks the first album with drummer Pekka Kasari who replaced Jan Rechberger and the only album with keyboardist Kim Rantala. The music and lyrics are inspired by the traditional Finnish ballads and poems compiled in the ''Kanteletar'' by Elias Lönnrot in 1840. The primary genre of the album is progressive metal, with strong folk influence, as well as elements of melodic death metal and heavy metal. Many of the album's tracks, e.g. "Against Widows", have become fan favorites and have been performed in concerts since ''Elegys release.
