H33 is a Ukraine, Ukrainian national highway (State Highways (Ukraine), H-highway), passing through the territory of the Odessa Oblast, Odessa region. The route was previously designated as territorial road T-16-04 until 2013 and regional road P-70 from 2013 to 2017, when it was redesignated as national highway H33. Zatoka Bridge
Zatoka Bridge ( uk, Підйомний міст у Затоці) is a vertical lift road and rail bridge in Ukraine, crossing the Dniester Estuary in Zatoka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion, Odesa Oblast. The bridge opened in 1955 and carries Highway H33 (the former P70) between Odesa and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and the railway line from Odesa to Bessarabia. The bridge is strategically important as the only direct land connection from Odesa to Budjak and Romania. During the Russia–Ukraine War the bridge has been repeatedly targeted by Russian missiles. On 10 February 2023 the bridge was hit by a suspected Russian naval drone. Ovidiopol
Ovidiopol ( uk, Ові́діополь; russian: Овидиополь; tr, Hacıdere) is a coastal urban-type settlement in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It is located on the eastern bank of Dniester Estuary directly across Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and west of Odesa. Population: History The place is first mentioned as early as 17th century.Vermenych, Ya. At Medieval times Akkerman, at that time known as Maurocastrum, was a trade port of Byzantine and later Genoese colonies out of the Southern coast of Crimea. In mid 18th century Hacıdere was a big populated place with a pier through which was conducted a grain trade. Shabo, Odessa Oblast
Shabo ( uk, Шабо, ro, Şaba, population 7,100) is a selo of the Odesa Oblast, Ukraine, situated at the Dniester Liman, some 7 km downstream of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. It hosts the administration of Shabo rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The Tatar village was established ca. 1500, called ' "the lower vineyards" (attested 1788). The name was subsequently simplified to ''Shabag'' and finally to ''Shaba / Shabo''. After the conquest of Bessarabia by the Russian Empire, the region suffered a population drain to the Ottoman Empire. Shabo in 1812 had been deserted by all but three or four families. Alexander I decided to re-populate the region, in 1822 inviting Swiss settlers of Vaud to cultivate the vineyards of Shabo. The descendants of these settlers inhabit Shabo to the present day, and Shabo wine remains famous for its quality. Budaki Lagoon
Budaki, or Budaksky Lagoon (other names: Shabolatsky Liman, Shabolat, Budaksky Liman; uk, Будацький лиман, Шаболат, ro, Limanul Budachi, Şabolat) is a Black Sea lagoon ( liman) in Bessarabia, southern Ukraine. Located in 18 km from the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. The lagoon is separated from the Black Sea by the 80–200 m wide sandbar. The health spa urban-type settlement of Serhiivka is located on the coasts of the Budaki Lagoon. The temporary connection between the lagoon and the sea is organised via artificial canal «Budaki» (on the southern west), sometime via natural erosion (washout) of the sandbar. The lagoon is connected to the Dniester Estuary via canals «Bugaz-1» and «Bugaz-2». In the central part of the lagoon, in the urban-type settlement of Serhiivka, the bridge is connect the town with the sandbar. Zatoka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi
Zatoka (; ro, Zatoca or ''Bugaz'') is an urban-type settlement in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion, Odesa Oblast, in southwestern Ukraine. It belongs to Karolino-Buhaz rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The settlement is a local beach resort. Additionally, Zatoka contains a small port named Buhaz, which has a single pier and is part of the Port of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky. The population of Zatoka is . The settlement is located on a sand spit of the Dniester Estuary next to where the Dniester flows into the Black Sea. It is 60 km from Odesa and 18 km from the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in Odesa Oblast, in the historical region of Budjak or southern Bessarabia. Dniester Estuary Dniester Estuary, or Dniester Liman ( uk, Дністровський лиман; ro, Limanul Nistrului) is a liman, formed at the point where the river Dniester flows into the Black Sea. It is located in Ukraine, in Odessa Oblast, and connects Budjak to the Ukrainian mainland. The city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi lies on its western shore and Ovidiopol on its eastern shore. Shabo, situated downstream of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, is known for its wine. The estuary hosts the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky Seaport. The area of the liman varies between 360 and 408 km2, it is 42.5 km long and has maximum width of 12 km. The average depth is 1.8 m, the maximum depth 2.7 m. On the spit separating the liman from the open Black Sea to the south is the resort town of Zatoka.
