Highgate Springs is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Highgate, Franklin County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 77. The CDP is in northwestern Franklin County, in the western part of the town of Highgate. It sits on the southeast shore of Missisquoi Bay, an arm of Lake Champlain. Highgate is a suburban area of north London in the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington and Haringey. The area is at the north-eastern corner of Hampstead Heath, north-northwest of Charing Cross. Highgate is one of the most expensive London suburbs in which to live. Swanton is a village in the town of Swanton in Franklin County, Vermont, United States. It is sometimes called Swanton Village to distinguish it from the surrounding town of the same name. The population was 2,328 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1888. Geography Swanton village is located in the north-central part of the town of Swanton, along the Missisquoi River. U.S. Route 7 passes through the village as Grand Avenue, Canada Street, and Spring Street. To the north US 7 leads to its northern terminus at Interstate 89 just south of the Canada–United States border, and to the south it leads to St. Albans, the Franklin County seat. Interstate 89
Interstate 89 (I-89) is an Interstate Highway in the New England region of the United States traveling from Bow, New Hampshire, to the Canada–United States border between Highgate Springs, Vermont, and Saint-Armand, Quebec. As with all odd-numbered primary Interstates, I-89 is signed as a north–south highway. However, it follows a primarily northwest-to-southeast path. The route forms a major part of the main connection between the cities of Montreal and Boston. In Quebec, the route continues as Route 133. Lake Champlain
Lake Champlain ( ; , ) is a natural freshwater lake in North America. It mostly lies between the U.S. states of New York (state), New York and Vermont, but also extends north into the Canadian province of Quebec. Missisquoi Bay
Missisquoi Bay is a large extension in the northern part of Lake Champlain, at the East of the output of the latter in Richelieu River. It takes the form of a violin head, with the neck extending from the head of the lake and is about in diameter. The bay is divided between Quebec in Canada and Vermont in the United States. The main town on its banks is Venise-en-Québec, Quebec, Venise-en-Québec, a major summer resort. The river of the same name flows into the bay and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge is located on the American side.
