Ottawa Technical High School, known as Ottawa Tech, was a high school in Ottawa, Canada that specialized in vocational programs. The school opened in 1913 as the second public secondary school in Ottawa, and closed in 1992. It was located on Albert Street in the western part of downtown Ottawa. History The building was previously home to a women's college, and Ottawa Tech moved there in 1916. The school originally offered both standard high school programs and courses in auto mechanics, electricity, drafting, computers, and graphic arts. The original building was expanded several times and a new structure was built across the street in the 1960s, with a bright orange walkway connecting the buildings over Slater Street. Canterbury High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in the Urbandale neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is an arts magnet school which draws in students from the Ottawa area to their specialized arts program. It is located at 900 Canterbury Ave, and serves over 1300 students. While offering both an arts program and a general program, Canterbury is known primarily for the arts in both its local community and nationally. History The school opened in 1969 as a comprehensive high school. It was the last in a series of ten high schools built by the Collegiate Board to deal with baby boomers. IBM 1401
The IBM 1401 is a variable-wordlength decimal computer that was announced by IBM on October 5, 1959. The first member of the highly successful IBM 1400 series, it was aimed at replacing unit record equipment for processing data stored on punched cards and at providing peripheral services for larger computers. Glebe Collegiate Institute (GCI) is a high school in the Glebe neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Hopewell Avenue Public School is a public elementary/middle school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It teaches grades jk-8. With a student population of about 950, it is the second largest K-8 school in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, after Broadview Public School. History The school was constructed in 1910. In 1982 the old building was expanded with a new section of approximately the same size. In 2015 the emerald ash beetle destroyed more than half of the trees in both yards. Lisgar Collegiate Institute is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board secondary school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school is located in downtown Ottawa by the Rideau Canal. History In 1843, a grammar school with 40 paying students was opened in the Sandy Hill area of Ottawa in a house at the corner of Waller Street and Daly Avenue. In 1859, the school became one of the first in Ontario to admit girls. The school changed locations several times in the first few years, and was renamed first Bytown Grammar School and later Ottawa Grammar School. In 1871 the school was raised to a high school and in 1873 to a collegiate institute, becoming Ottawa Collegiate Institute. The school found a permanent home in 1873 when a lot at what was then the southern edge of the city was purchased. Adult High School (Ottawa)
The Adult High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school for adults in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the only regular secondary school entirely for adults in the province of Ontario. The school is located at 300 Rochester Street southwest of downtown in Little Italy. The complex, built in 1965, originally housed the High School of Commerce which founded an adult education program in 1983. Enrolment at the High School of Commerce gradually decreased until the school closed in 1990 and the Adult High School took over the entire building.
