Hidenori Isa
is a former Japanese biathlete. He was one of the top male Japanese biathletes from 2000 until his retirement in 2014. Career Born in the city of Ojiya in the Niigata Prefecture, Isa found biathlon after graduating high school and joining the military. Isa debuted in the World Cup in first round of the 2000–01 World Cup in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy. That season Isa made his debut at the World Championships at the World Championships in Pokljuka. He also participated in all World Championships from 2003 to 2009, and then all three World Championships from 2011 to 2013 for Japan. Isa participated in his first Olympics in 2002 and he also participated in the Olympics in 2006, 2010 and 2014. His best individual finish at the Olympics came in the 12.5 km pursuit in 2006, he finished 35th. His best relay finish also came in 2006, a 12th place. Biathlon World Championships 2008
The 42nd Biathlon World Championships were held in Östersund, Sweden from 8 to 17 February 2008. It was the second time Östersund was hosting the Biathlon World Championships, the first being in 1970. It was also 50 years after the first Biathlon World Championships, which were held 1958 in Saalfelden, Austria. There were a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay races for men and women, and the relatively new mixed relay. The championships were dominated by the German, Norwegian, and Russian teams, which would win every competition and 28 of the 33 available medals. Biathlon World Cup
The Biathlon World Cup is a top-level biathlon season-long competition series. It has been held since the winter seasons of 1977–78 for men and 1982–83 for women. The women's seasons until 1986–87 season were called the European Cup, although participation was not restricted to Europeans. Competition and format The World Cup season lasts from November or December to late March, with meetings in a different venue every week excluding some holidays and a couple of weeks before the season's major championships (World Championships or Winter Olympics). All in all, the season comprises nine to ten meetings, with events taking place from Wednesday–Thursday through Sunday. Relay competitions are held four to six times per season. 1999 Asian Winter Games
The 4th Asian Winter Games ( ko, 제 4 회 동계 아시안 게임, je 4 hoe dong-gye asian geim) were held from January 30 to February 6, 1999, in the province of Kangwon (Gangwon), South Korea. The games were staged in three different clusters in the province which were Yongpyong, Kangnung (Gangneung) and Chunchon (Chuncheon). The name Yongpyong was derived from the Yongpyong Resort. On December 2, 1993, the Olympic Council of Asia announced that South Korea would host the 4th Asian Winter Games in 1999. The 6th Asian Winter Games () were held in Changchun, Jilin, China from January 28 to February 4, 2007. The Winter Games are a celebration of Winter sports in Asia.
