Foxbridge (GB) (foaled 1930) was an English Thoroughbred racehorse by Foxlaw out of Bridgemount by Bridge of Earn. His race record was 18 starts for 1 win, 3 seconds and 4 thirds.Ahnert, Rainer L. Here he was a very successful sire at Trelawney Stud near Cambridge, New Zealand. This remarkably consistent horse was New Zealand's most successful sire and brood-mare sire for 11 consecutive seasons. Twice he was the British Empire's champion sire. His female offspring were to produce five Melbourne Cup winners: Hiraji, Foxzami, Macdougal, Hi Jinx and Silver Knight. Foxbridge's potency was illustrated at Ellerslie Racecourse on Boxing Day 1944, when his progeny won six races on an eight-race card. He was inducted into the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame in 2008. Caulfield Cup
The Caulfield Cup is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race held under handicap conditions, although the Melbourne Racing Club is in the process of turning the race into weight for age (WFA) conditions. This is for all horses aged three years old and older. It takes place over a distance of 2400 metres at the Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in mid October. The prize money is A$5,000,000. History The race has become one of Australia's richest Thoroughbred horse races. The race is held annually on the third Saturday in October, the third day and final day of the Caulfield Carnival. Tulloch (horse)
Tulloch (foaled in New Zealand in 1954 and died in 1969) was a champion Australian Thoroughbred racehorse who was one of the greatest Australian stayers. He won at distances from 5 furlongs (1,000 metres) to 2 miles (3,200 m), established Australian records at 10 furlongs (1960 Cox Plate) and 12 furlongs (1957 Caulfield Cup), and took 2 seconds off Phar Lap's 28-year-old record for the AJC Derby. As a three-year-old Tulloch won 14 of his 16 starts before he was struck down by a virus which kept him off the racing scene for almost two years. He returned to racing as an autumn five-year-old and won 15 of his last 24 races. Tulloch was one of the five inaugural horse inductees into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, alongside Carbine, Phar Lap, Bernborough and Kingston Town. The Moonee Valley Gold Cup is a registered Moonee Valley Racing Club Group 2 Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged four-years-old and upwards under Set Weights with penalties conditions, over a distance of 2,500 metres, held annually at Moonee Valley Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in late October on W. S. Cox Plate Day. Prize money is A$1,000,000. History The event is the last major long distance event to be run before the Melbourne Cup. Bayardo (horse)
Bayardo (1906 – 1917) was a British bred Thoroughbred racehorse with an impressive record, both on the racecourse and at stud, where he was a leading sire. Background He was sired by Bay Ronald who won the Hardwicke Stakes and the City and Suburban Handicap. Bay Ronald sired Rondeau, who won nine stakes races, and was the dam of the influential stallion Teddy. He also sired Macdonald II, winner of the Prix Royal-Oak in France, and Dark Ronald, sire of Son-in-Law and Vaucluse, winner of the 1,000 Guineas. Bayardo's dam, Galicia, came from a good family which included having Blink Bonnie, as her fifth dam. Galicia was by Galopin—a Derby winner and sire St. Simon—and out of the Isonomy mare, Isoletta. She won the Biennial Stakes as a two-year-old, before injuring her pastern. Galicia raced as a three-year-old, but broke down in the Derby Cup and was retired for breeding.
