Hi Diddle Riddle
"Hi Diddle Riddle" is the first half-hour length episode of ''Batman (TV series), Batman'' to air, first broadcast on American Broadcasting Company, ABC, Wednesday January 12, 1966 and repeated on August 24, 1966 and April 5, 1967. It marked the first appearance of Frank Gorshin as The Riddler. Plot synopsis The series opens at the Republic of Moldavia exhibit, located at the Gotham City 1964 New York World's Fair, World's Fair, the Moldavian prime minister slices into the Moldavian friendship cake and unknowingly causes it to explode, releasing a concealed riddle. At the Gotham City Police Department, Police Commissioner James Gordon (comics), James Gordon (Neil Hamilton (actor), Neil Hamilton) and Chief Miles O'Hara (Stafford Repp) suspect it to be the Riddler (Gorshin). James Gordon (comics)
James W. "Jim" Gordon Sr. is a character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, most commonly in association with the superhero Batman. Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane as an ally of Batman, the character debuted in the first panel of ''Detective Comics'' #27 (May 1939), Batman's first appearance, making him the first Batman supporting character ever to be introduced. As the police commissioner of Gotham City, Gordon shares Batman's deep commitment to ridding the city of crime.
