Hexi Corridor
The Hexi Corridor (, Xiao'erjing: حْسِ ظِوْلاْ, IPA: ), also known as the Gansu Corridor, is an important historical region located in the modern western Gansu province of China. It refers to a narrow stretch of traversable and relatively arable plain west of the Yellow River's Ordos Loop, flanked between the much more elevated and inhospitable terrains of the Mongolian and Tibetan Plateaus. The name ''Hexi'', refers to "west of the river". As part of the Northern Silk Road, running northwest from the western section of the Ordos Loop between Yinchuan and Lanzhou, the Hexi Corridor was the most important trade route in Northwest China. It linked China ''proper'' to the historic Western Regions for traders and military incursions into Central Asia. Golmud, also known by various other romanizations, is a county-level city in the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, China. It is now the second-largest city in Qinghai and the third largest in the Tibetan Plateau (after Xining and Lhasa). The population in 2020 is 221,863. Name ''Golmud'' is a romanization of a Mongolian word meaning "rivers". Delingha
Delingha (; ), or Delhi ( SASM/GNC/SRC romanization of Mongolian: ''Delhi hot''), is the seat of the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northern Qinghai province, China. It is located approximately southeast of the Da Qaidam Administrative Region. It is a mainly industrial county-level city. The Bayin River divides the city into two parts: '' Hedong'' () and ''Hexi'' (). Because the prefecture seat is located in Hedong, it is slightly more flourishing than Hexi, which is chiefly agricultural. Established in 1988, Delingha administers seven township-level divisions covering an area of and has a total population of 78,184, making it the smallest of the five cities in Qinghai. Horqin District
Horqin District (Mongolian script: ; ) is an administrative district of the prefecture-level city of Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, China, and its seat of government. The district was formed in January 1999 upon the creation of the prefecture-level city of Tongliao from the former Jirem League. The boundaries of the district is roughly coterminous with the core urban area of Tongliao. The local Mongolian dialect spoken in the area is Khorchin Mongolian; most people in the district speak Mandarin Chinese (the most commonly spoken dialect is Northeastern Mandarin).
