Sean Peter Hessey (born 19 September 1978 in Whiston, Merseyside) is an English football manager and former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career During a career which spanned eighteen years, Hessey played for Liverpool, Leeds United, Wigan Athletic, Huddersfield Town, Kilmarnock, Blackpool, Chester City, Macclesfield Town and Barrow. Hessey had a fairly successful five-year spell at Scottish club Kilmarnock. However, this was marred by a number of serious knee injuries He scored his first professional goal at Kilmarnock in a 2–1 win over Livingston in September 2003. Hessey joined Chester after the club were promoted back to the Football League in 2004 and was a first-choice player for much of his first three years at the club, although he quite often missed games because of injury and suspension problems. James Hessey
James Augustus Hessey (17 July 1814 – 24 December 1892) was a British cleric and Headmaster of Merchant Taylors' School. Life He was born in London, the eldest son of publisher James Augustus Hessey, of St. Bride's, City of London and was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and St. John's College, Oxford, where he was for some years a resident fellow and lecturer. He graduated B.A. in 1836, M.A. in 1840, B.D. in 1845 and D.C.L. in 1846. In 1839, he was made vicar of Hellidon, Northamptonshire, appointed public examiner at Oxford in 1842 and select preacher in the university in 1849. From 1845 to 1870 he was headmaster of Merchant Taylors' School; and from 1850 to 1879 preacher of Gray's Inn. From 1872 to 1874 he was classical examiner for the Indian Civil Service, before being collated Archdeacon of Middlesex in 1875, a post he filled until his death in 1892. James Hessey (publisher)
James Augustus Hessey (28 August 1785, Clerkenwell – 7 April 1870, Manningford Bruce) was an English publisher who established the publishing company Taylor and Hessey with John Taylor who he met whilst they both worked for James Lackington. Early life James was the son of James Hessey (gent.) who had purchased a commission as quartermaster for the 43rd Foot Regiment in 1773. Having fought for the British in the American War of Independence, he left the Army in 17780 and died in 1786, shortly after his sons birth. James's guardians sent him to Burton Grammar School.
