Herwig Wolfram (born 14 February 1934) is an Austrian historian who is Professor Emeritus of Medieval History and Auxiliary Sciences of History at the University of Vienna and the former Director of the . Christopher Herwig is a Canadian photographer and filmmaker primarily known for his photographs of vernacular architecture, in particular Soviet bus stops. Herwig has spent 15 years travelling throughout the countries of the former USSR to document hundreds of sculptural bus stop shelters created by local artists and builders. Work Herwig published the book, ''Soviet Bus Stops'' in 2015. Herwig van Staa (born 10 June 1942) was the governor of Tyrol from 2002 to 2008. Van Staa was born in Linz, Upper Austria. His father, who came from the Rhine area, worked as a technician in the steelworks in Linz and died in a sick bay in 1943 after military action on the Eastern Front. Herwig Franz Schopper (born 28 February 1924) is a German experimental physicist. He was the director general of CERN from 1981 to 1988. Biography Schopper was born in Lanškroun, Czechoslovakia, to a family of Austrian descent.
