Hersleb Vogt
Hersleb Vogt (20 May 1912 – 9 November 1999) was a Norwegian diplomat. Biography He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo). Norway. He studied law at the University of Oslo and graduated with a cand.jur. degree in law. He was hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1936. He worked as an embassy attaché in 1937 at Paris and Luxembourg and 1938 in Rome. In 1943 he joined the Norwegian Mission in Stockholm as Legation Secretary. From 1944 until the end of World War II he was first secretary and later head of section in the Norwegian State Department. In 1948 he became chargé d'affaires with Norwegian diplomatic missions in Brussels. In 1949 he was hired as an embassy counselor in the United Kingdom. He served as the Norwegian ambassador to Japan from 1953 to 1958, to West Germany from 1958 to 1963, to Denmark from 1963 to 1967, to France from 1967 to 1973, to Sweden from 1973 to 1977 and France again from 1977 to 1980. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Georg Kristiansen
Georg Kristiansen (4 March 1917 – 24 August 2003) was a Norwegian military officer and diplomat. He was born in Kristiania, and after finishing his secondary education in 1935 he studied languages and history before taking a military education. He attended the Norwegian Military Academy-in-exile (in London) and became an officer in 1943. He actively served as a captain until 1945, and was decorated with the Defence Medal 1940–1945. He was hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1946. He was an attaché and embassy secretary in France from 1947 to 1952 before returning to Norway. He was promoted to assistant secretary in 1952, sub-director in 1959 and deputy under-secretary of state in 1962. In between he was a head teacher at the Norwegian National Defence College from 1957 to 1959. Edvard Isak Hambro
Edvard Isak Hambro (22 August 1911 – 1 February 1977) was a Norwegian legal scholar, diplomat and politician for the Conservative Party. He was the 25th President of the United Nations General Assembly (1970–1971). Personal life Hambro was born in Kristiania as a son of the politician C. J. Hambro (1885–1964) and his wife Gudrun Grieg (1881–1943). On the paternal side he was a grandson of Edvard Isak Hambro and Nico Hambro (née Harbitz). He was also a nephew of Elise Hambro, a brother of Cato, Carl Joachim and Johan Hambro, and from 1946 a stepson of Gyda Christensen. In 1940 he married Elisabeth Raverat, daughter of the French artist Jacques Raverat and his English wife, the artist Gwen Darwin, a granddaughter of Charles Darwin. Jahn Brochmann Halvorsen (23 November 1916 – 13 May 1976) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Hadsel Municipality and took the cand.oecon. degree in economics. He was hired in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1951. He was a councillor at the Norwegian NATO and OEEC embassy in Paris from 1955 to 1960 and a deputy under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1960 to 1965. He served as the Norwegian ambassador to Belgium—and also Luxembourg and the European Community—from 1965 to 1973, and then to France from 1973 to his death. He died in May 1976 in Paris.
