Heroes Of Might And Magic IV
''Heroes of Might and Magic IV'' is a Turn-based strategy, turn-based strategy game developed by Gus Smedstad through New World Computing and published by the 3DO Company for Microsoft Windows-based personal computers in 2002. A Macintosh Porting, port was subsequently developed by Contraband Entertainment and released by the 3DO Company. The fourth installment of the popular ''Heroes of Might and Magic'' franchise, it is the sequel to ''Heroes of Might and Magic III'', and was the last to be developed by New World Computing. Gameplay ''Heroes of Might and Magic IV'' introduced a number of major changes to the series. There are six town types, and this time each has an ideological alignment: Life (Haven), Nature (Preserve), Chaos (Asylum), Death (Necropolis), Order (Academy), and Might (Stronghold). New World Computing
New World Computing, Inc. was an American video game developer and video game publisher, publisher founded in 1984 by Jon Van Caneghem, his wife, Michaela Van Caneghem, and Mark Caldwell. It was best known for its work on the ''Might and Magic'' role-playing video game series and its spin-offs, especially ''Heroes of Might and Magic''. The company was purchased by and became a division of The 3DO Company on July 10, 1996 from NTN Communications, after NTN purchased New World Computing for $10 million in stock. Amidst financial hardship, the 3DO Company laid off a large portion of the staff of New World Computing on April 15, 2002. While a smaller, core staff remained at New World Computing, the 2003 in video gaming, following year saw little improvement in parent 3DO's situation, and the company filed for Chapter 11, Title 11, United States Code, Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May of that year. ''Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia'' (commonly referred to as ''Heroes of Might & Magic 3'', or ''Heroes 3'', or abbreviated HoMM 3) is a turn-based strategy game developed by Jon Van Caneghem through New World Computing originally released for Microsoft Windows by The 3DO Company in 1999. Its ports to several computer and console systems followed over the next year. The third installment of the '' Heroes of Might and Magic'' series'','' the game was released to universal acclaim and is regarded as a cult classic. The game received two expansion packs, '' Armageddon's Blade'' and '' The Shadow of Death''. The original game and both expansions were repackaged in 2000 as ''Heroes III Complete''. The Heroes 3 engine (with its expansions) was also used as the basis for the '' Heroes Chronicles'' spinoff series, which was released in eight episodic installments from September 2000 to June 2001.
