Paper Tiger Books
Paper Tiger Books was a British publishing house which focused primarily on books of modern art, specifically the visionary, the fantastic, and science fiction, and an imprint of Dragons World Ltd. It was started in 1976 by Hubert Schaafsma and brothers Martyn and Roger Dean after the success of Roger Dean's book ''Views'' through a sister imprint, Dragon's Dream. Miniature Model (gaming)
In miniature wargaming, players enact simulated battles using scale models called miniature models, which can be anywhere from 2 to 54 mm in height, to represent warriors, vehicles, artillery, buildings, and terrain. These models are colloquially referred to as miniatures or minis. Miniature models are commonly made of metal, plastic, or paper. They are used to augment the visual aspects of a game and track position, facing, and line of sight (gaming), line of sight of characters. Miniatures are typically painted and can be artfully sculpted, making them collectible in their own right. Citadel Miniatures Limited is a company which produces metal, resin and plastic miniature figure (gaming), miniature figures for tabletop wargames such as ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'' and ''Warhammer 40,000''. In the past, Citadel Miniatures was a separate company, but it has become a brand for Games Workshop miniatures. Although its models are used for the wargaming hobby, the figure painting (hobby), painting of its miniatures (and miniatures in general) is a hobby in itself. Early history In 1976, Bryan Ansell co-founded Asgard Miniatures with Steven Fitzwater and Paul Sulley in Nottingham and became its lead sculptor. John Blanche
John Blanche (born 1948) is a British fantasy and science fiction illustrator and modeller who worked on Games Workshop's ''White Dwarf'' magazine, ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'', ''Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay'', ''Warhammer 40,000'' and ''Warhammer Age of Sigmar'' games and was the art director for the company and illustrated various game books and Fighting Fantasy publications. Early life Blanche was born into a working-class family in post-war England, and grew up on a Council estate during the 1950s, a period he describes as 'grey and flat' and lacking in the visual richness available to modern youth. ''Dragon'' was one of the two official magazines for source material for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game and associated products, along with ''Dungeon (magazine), Dungeon''. TSR, Inc. originally launched the monthly printed magazine in 1976 to succeed the company's earlier publication, ''The Strategic Review''. The final printed issue was #359 in September 2007.
