Takashi Yabe
is a professor at the Department of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech.). Career Takashi Yabe graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1973 and immediately became a research associate. After getting doctor degree of engineering, he moved to Osaka University as an associate professor and then returned to Tokyo Tech. as a professor in 1995. His specialties are theoretical and experimental studies of interactions between laser light and substances. He has established a venture business called Electra to realize the magnesium-based society using "solar-pumped laser", and currently serves as its CEO. Another specialty of Dr. Yabe is computational fluid dynamics. Global Environmental Citizen Award
The Global Environmental Citizen Award is an environmental award created by the Harvard Medical School Center for Health and the Global Environment and bestowed annually upon an individual working to restore and protect the global environment. Award recipients In 2003, primatologist Jane Goodall received Harvard's annual Global Environmental Citizen Award. Goodall founded a program called "Take Care (conservation program), Take Care", aimed at creating microcredit banks and educating conservation methods to inhabitants near the forest and national park. In 2004, the award was given to journalist Bill Moyers who has created discussion around the relation between the environment and various political trends, such as the discourse between Environmental policy of the United States, environmental policy and Christian religious right. Global 500 Roll Of Honour
The Global 500 Roll of Honour was an award given from 1987 to 2003 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The Environmental Media Awards have been awarded by the Environmental Media Association since 1991 to the best television episode or film with an environmental message. The Environmental Media Association (EMA) is a non-profit organization created in 1989 with the stated belief "that through television, film and music, the entertainment community has the power to influence the environmental awareness of millions of people." Casson Trenor
Casson Trenor is an American environmentalist, author, entrepreneur, and media personality. He is the author of a number of books on environmentalism and sustainable seafood, in particular '' Umijoo'', a children's book, and '' Sustainable Sushi'', a reference guide. Trenor and two co-founders created the world's first sustainable sushi restaurant in 2009, as well as the acclaimed plant-based Japanese restaurant Shizen in 2015. In recognition of his work, Trenor was awarded a Congressional Commendation as well as the title "Hero of the Environment" by ''Time'' magazine. Sheri Liao
Liao Xiaoyi (), or Sheri Liao, is a Chinese environmental activist, journalist and producer of documentaries whose works are credited with advancing the Chinese environmental movement. Life and work After graduating from Sun Yat-sen University in 1986, Liao taught philosophy as a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, where she first gained an interest in environmental philosophy. Rupert Nigel Pendrill Hadow, known as Pen Hadow (born 26 February 1962), is a British Arctic region explorer, advocate, adventurer and guide. He is the only person to have trekked solo, and without resupply by third parties, from Canada to the Geographic North Pole. Olga Speranskaya () is a Russian scientist and environmentalist. She has been the Director of the Chemical Safety Program at the Eco-Accord Center for Environment and Sustainable Development in Moscow since 1997 and holds a master's degree in Geophysics from Moscow State University, and a doctorate in Environmental physics from the Russian Academy of Sciences. Bindeshwar Pathak (2 April 1943 – 15 August 2023) was an Indian sociologist and social entrepreneur. He was the founder of Sulabh International, an India-based social service organisation promoting human rights, environmental sanitation, non-conventional sources of energy, waste management and social reforms through education. He was the Brand Ambassador for Swachh Rail Mission of Indian Railways, a complement to the broader Swachh Bharat Mission.
