Hermann Staudinger Prize
The Hermann Staudinger Prize is awarded by the German Chemical Society for groundbreaking work in the field of macromolecular chemistry and polymer science. It comes with a gold medal and a sum of money (currently 7500 euros). It is awarded in even-numbered years and is named after the Nobel Prize in chemistry winner Hermann Staudinger, who is the founder of the field. The prize started in 1970 through donation from BASF and the first prize was handed out in 1971. Kurt Kremer
Kurt Kremer (born 17 June 1956 in Kapellensüng (Lindlar)) is a German physicist. Career Kremer studied physics from 1974 to 1980 at the University of Cologne, where he also did his PhD in 1983 under supervision of Kurt Binder. From 1982 to 1984 he was part of the scientific staff at Forschungszentrum Jülich. Following this work he worked as a postdoc at Exxon Research and Engineering Co., Annandale, New Jersey and returned to Jülich after his Habilitation at the University of Mainz in 1988. Egbert (Bert) Willem Meijer (born 1955 in Groningen (city), Groningen) is a Dutch organic chemist, known for his work in the fields of supramolecular chemistry, materials chemistry and polymer chemistry. Brigitte Voit
Brigitte Voit (born 1963 in Bayreuth) is a German chemist and professor of chemistry. She holds the chair Organic Chemistry of Polymers at the Faculty of Chemistry of the TU Dresden and is head of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research ( IPF Dresden) in Dresden. From September 1, 2002, to July 31, 2022, she was also member of the Board of Management/CSO of the IPF Dresden. Klaus Müllen (born 2 January 1947) is a German chemist working in the fields of polymer chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology. He is known for the synthesis and exploration of the properties of graphene-like nanostructures and their potential applications in organic electronics. Walter Kaminsky
Walter Kaminsky (7 May 1941 – 23 November 2024) was a German chemist who specialised in olefin polymerization and plastic recycling. He discovered the high activity of Group 4 metallocene/ methylaluminoxane (MAO) mixtures (later named the Kaminsky catalyst) as catalysts for olefin polymerization in 1980. Helmut Ringsdorf
Helmut Ringsdorf (30 July 1929 – 20 March 2023) was a German polymer chemist. His work promoted cross-disciplinary discussions and collaborations in the field of polymer chemistry, biology, physics and medicine. Ringsdorf's major research works deal with the self-assembly of polymers into functional aggregates, where 'the whole is more than the sum of its parts'. He is known for being the first to propose covalently bonding drugs to water-soluble polymers. Personal life Ringsdorf was born in Gießen, People's State of Hesse in 1929.
