Heritage Structures In Hyderabad
The Heritage Conservation Committee under HUDA was formed by state government in 1981 to retain architectural, historical and social value of buildings. Hyderabad Urban Development Authority has listed almost 160 buildings in Hyderabad in Telangana state as heritage structures. Almost 70% of heritage buildings are in private hands. Heritage structures include buildings, monuments, rock structures etc. By notifying such structures, Heritage Conservation Committee in collaboration with ( INTACH) works to retain their architectural, historical and social importance and tries to convince the owners not to destroy the listed heritage structures lured by the commercial potential of their properties. The buildings are graded as Grade I, Grade II & Grade III. However, experts feel due to lack of support from the state government it has become difficult to preserve the status of these buildings. State Central Library, Hyderabad
The State Central Library Hyderabad, () () known as the State Central Library (SCL) earlier known as ''Kutub Khana Asafia'', is a public library in Hyderabad, Telangana. The library was first established in 1891 at a location in Abids where the General Post Office is today situated. The library was shifted to its present location in 1936 and today is one of the most imposing structures in the city. The building housing the library was granted heritage status in 1998 by INTACH, Hyderabad. Aza Khana-e-Zohra
Aza Khane Zehra is an ashurkhana built by the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan in memory of his mother Zehra Begum. It was constructed in the 1930s and is located on the banks of Musi river right next to Salar Jung Museum in Darulshifa, Hyderabad. It is busy during Moharram. It was built in a style known as ''Osmanian Architecture''. History The Last Nizam was very fond of his mother "Amtul Zehra Begum", he built this monument after her death in her memory. It is the largest Ashurkhana in the whole of South India. Lakdi Ka Pul
Lakdi ka pul (lit: "the wooden bridge") is a neighbourhood in Hyderabad, India. Etymology The area got its name from a bridge that was built over the railway line between Secunderabad and Nampally. Asman Garh Palace
Asman Garh Palace located in Malakpet, a suburb of Hyderabad, was a palace belonging to the Paigahs of Hyderabad State. The palace was declared a heritage structure by INTACH. ''Asman'' means "sky", and ''Garh'' means "home", since the palace was located so high on a hillock. The palace hosted a museum displaying archaeological relics. Telangana State Archaeology Museum or Hyderabad Museum is a museum located in Hyderabad, India. It is the oldest museum in Hyderabad. History Henry Cousens is the first person to have recorded in carrying out archaeological explorations in Hyderabad State in 19th century. Department of Archaeology was established in 1914. High Court Of Judicature At Hyderabad
The Telangana High Court is the High Court for the Indian state of Telangana. Founded by the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan, It was established as a High Court for the erstwhile Hyderabad State and in November 1956 after formation of Andhra Pradesh renamed as ''High Court of Andhra Pradesh''.
