Hercules (DC Comics)
Hercules (also known as Heracles and Herakles) is a fictional Olympian god in the DC Universe based on the Greek demigod and hero of the same name. Hercules first appears in '' All Star Comics'' #8 (January 1942) as part of a Wonder Woman story, and was created by William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter, in the first of several incarnations. Later versions appeared in ''Superman'' #28 (May 1966), created by Jerry Siegel and Ira Yarbrough, ''Wonder Woman'' #105 (April 1967) and ''Hercules Unbound'' #1 (October 1975) created by Gerry Conway and José Luis García-López. Fictional character biography Pre-''Crisis on Infinite Earths'' Hercules is shown as a muscle-bound man wearing a lion-skin. Wonder Woman is a superheroine who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in ''All Star Comics'' Introducing Wonder Woman, #8, published October 21, 1941, with her first feature in ''Sensation Comics'' #1 in January 1942. She was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston (pen name: Charles Moulton (choreographer), Charles Moulton), and artist Harry G. Peter in 1941. Marston's wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston, Elizabeth, and their life partner, Olive Byrne, are credited as being his inspiration for the character's appearance. She is one of the first DC superheroes and is one of the strongest superheroes of all time. ''Wonder Woman'' is an ongoing American comic book series featuring the DC Comics superhero Wonder Woman and occasionally other superheroes as its protagonist. The character first appeared in '' All Star Comics'' #8 (cover dated December 1941), later featured in ''Sensation Comics'' (January 1942) series and gaining her own solo title shortly after. The series would contain many volume revamps and many new writers during the ages. Many of the events within the DC Universe affected the stories of the titular superhero with several reboots such as ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'' and ''The New 52''. The series was given a relaunch in 2016, when DC Comics rebooted its entire line of titles in an event called ''DC Rebirth''. The series received a revamp in 2021, as part of a line-wide relaunch called '' Infinite Frontier'', with issue #770. The series relaunched in 2023 as a part of '' Dawn of DC''.
