Herbert Taylor Range
The Taylor Range or Herbert Taylor Range is a mountain range on the western edge of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was first named The Glenmorrison Range by John Oxley during his exploration of the area in January 1824. In 1828, the colonial botanist Charles Fraser (botanist), Charles Fraser, whilst looking at the range from the Ipswich area, noted the bearings as Herbert Taylor (British Army officer), Sir Herbert Taylor’s Range from which the current name derived. The range is an eastern spur at the southern end of the D'Aguilar Range. The section of the range north of Enoggera Creek (sometimes called the Enoggera side of the range) includes the Keperra, Queensland, Keperra Bushland, Enoggera Barracks, Enoggera Military Area and the Ashgrove Golf Club golf course. A mountain range or hill range is a series of mountains or hills arranged in a line and connected by high ground. A mountain system or mountain belt is a group of mountain ranges with similarity in form, structure, and alignment that have arisen from the same cause, usually an orogeny. Moggill Creek
Moggill Creek is a creek in Brisbane, the largest city in Queensland, Australia. The creek rises on the Taylor Range and runs in a south-easterly direction from the southern edge of Brisbane Forest Park in Kholo and Pullenvale, flowing through Upper Brookfield, Brookfield and joining the Brisbane River at Kenmore. Before entering the Brisbane River the creek is crossed by Moggill Road and winds through Rafting Ground Reserve. Aboriginal naming of Moggil Creek comes from their description of the large water-lizards that were hunted and eaten in the area. They called these lizards, "magil" (moggill) when they were disturbed and jumped into the water. There are various land uses within the Moggill catchment, including commercial and residential areas, grazing and natural bushland. Sir Augustus Charles Gregory (1 August 1819 – 25 June 1905) was an English-born Australian explorer and surveyor. Between 1846 and 1858 he undertook four major expeditions. He was the first Surveyor-General of Queensland. He was appointed a lifetime Member of the Queensland Legislative Council. St Johns Wood is a neighbourhood within the Suburbs and localities (Australia), suburb of Ashgrove, Queensland, Ashgrove in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
