The Simpson family are the fictional characters featured in the animated television series ''The Simpsons''. The Simpsons are a nuclear family consisting of married couple Homer and Marge and their three children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. They live at 742 Evergreen Terrace in the fictional town of Springfield, United States, and they were created by cartoonist Matt Groening, who conceived the characters after his own family members, substituting "Bart" for his own name. The family debuted on Fox on April 19, 1987, in ''The Tracey Ullman Show'' short "Good Night" and were later spun off into their own series, which debuted on Fox in the U.S. on December 17, 1989. Herbert Edward Powell (19 July? 1871 – 31 August 1940), commonly referred to as H. E. Powell, was a painter and photolithographer in Adelaide, South Australia. He was an important member of the South Australian Society of Arts. History Powell was born in Adelaide, son of baker William Powell, for whom Powell's Corner, Kent Town, South Australia, Kent Town, was named. He was a student at the School of Design (Adelaide), School of Design 1887–1900 under H. P. Gill, gaining several diplomas from the South Kensington Art School. He joined the Public Service in 1887, and worked in the Government photolithography department under Alfred Vaughan until succeeding him as Government photolithographer in 1921. The photolithographic department was responsible for production of much of the South Australian photographic resources used by the Education Department, Tourist Bureau and other departments. Bert Powell
Herbert Powell (23 November 1885 – 28 September 1957) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Chesterfield Town, Barnsley and Birmingham. He played as a forward. Career Herbert Powell was born in Netherfield, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. He was on the books of Nottingham Forest, though never played for the league side, and played for Gresley Rovers and Grantham Avenue before making his first appearance in the Football League, for Chesterfield Town in the Second Division in the 1906–07 season. A few months later he appeared for Barnsley, also in the Second Division, then spent time at Carlisle United, New Brompton and Coventry City, surfacing for a third time in the Second Division with Birmingham in 1910. Herbert Marcus Powell
Herbert Marcus Powell FRS (7 August 1906 – 10 March 1991) was a British chemist and professor at the University of Oxford. Powell presented the idea of a correlation between molecular geometry and number of valence electron pairs in a Bakerian Lecture in 1940 with Nevil Sidgwick on University of Oxford. He studied chemistry at St John's College, Oxford, graduating with First Class honours in 1928, then continued to work in the Chemistry department in Oxford throughout his career. Powell supervised some of Dorothy Crowfoot's undergraduate training in crystallography. In 1964 he became the first (and only) Professor of Chemical Crystallography, retiring from the university in 1974. He was not a fellow of any college until his 1963 appointment to Hertford College.
