Herbert Knowles Morrison
Herbert Knowles Morrison (January 24, 1854 – June 15, 1885) was an American entomologist and professional collector of insects. He was one of the founding members of the Cambridge Entomological Club, Massachusetts. Morrison was born in Boston, the oldest child of William Albert and Mary Elizabeth (née Butler). Entomology () is the scientific study of insects, a branch of zoology. In the past the term "insect" was less specific, and historically the definition of entomology would also include the study of animals in other arthropod groups, such as arachnids, myriapods, and crustaceans. Erebidae
The Erebidae are a family of moths in the superfamily Noctuoidea. The family is among the largest families of moths by species count and contains a wide variety of well-known macromoth groups. The family includes the underwings (''Catocala''); litter moths ( Herminiinae); tiger, lichen, and wasp moths ( Arctiinae); tussock moths ( Lymantriinae), including the arctic woolly bear moth ('' Gynaephora groenlandica''); piercing moths (Calpinae and others); micronoctuoid moths ( Micronoctuini); snout moths ( Hypeninae); and zales, though many of these common names can also refer to moths outside the Erebidae (for example, crambid snout moths).
