Herbert Herding
Herbert Herding (February 2, 1904 – October 19, 1958) was a Norwegian revue writer, revue artist, and theater director. Under the stage name Herberth, he was one of the most celebrated revue artists of his time. Family Herding was born in Fredrikstad, the son of the actor and revue writer Arne Svendsen and Cecilie Fischer (1886–1957). He was the half-brother of the revue writer Kolbjørn Svendsen and the nephew of the actor and stage manager Osvald Svendsen (1892–1963). Career Herding had already made a name for himself in Norwegian theater life in the 1920s. In 1925 he became the theater director at the Hjorten Revue and Variety Theater in Trondheim. Hjorten had been a very popular stage since its was established in 1867, but in 1925 the theater experienced hardship and poor audiences. Arne Svendsen
Arne Svendsen (11 December 1884 – 20 November 1958) was a Norwegian songwriter, actor and revue writer. Career Svendsen was born in Fosnes in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. In 1910, he left home and settled in Fredrikstad, where he first worked as a hairdresser and barber. In 1911, he wrote his first revue for the ''Fredrikstad Arbeiderforening'', followed by five new revues annually until 1920. From 1921, Svendsen was associated with Chat Noir, a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo. He wrote the revue, ''Midt i planeten'' together with Per Kvist in 1922. He also collaborated with song writer Finn Bo (1927–36). From 1937 he worked with teams of various revue writers including Bias Bernhoft, Arild Feldborg and Erik Diesen. They wrote music for revues which appeared at Det Nye Teater, Carl Johan Theater, and Edderkoppen Theatre, and with more irregular intervals for Chat Noir. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see ''formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The rural municipalities of Borge, Onsøy, Kråkerøy, and Rolvsøy were merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1994. Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Tancred Ibsen
Tancred Ibsen (11 July 1893 – 4 December 1978) was a Norway, Norwegian Officer (armed forces), military officer, Aircraft pilot, aviator, film director and screenwriter. Background Ibsen was the son of Sigurd Ibsen and Bergljot Bjørnson. He was the grandson of both Henrik Ibsen and Nobel laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. ''Op med hodet!'' (literally, Up with Your Head!, or Cheer Up!) is a Norwegian comedy film from 1934. It was directed by Tancred Ibsen and produced by Erling Bergendahl. The actors appearing in the film include Lillebil Ibsen, Lalla Carlsen, and Leif Juster. The film was very experimental for its time, and it included special effects, multiple exposures, reverse motion, and color sequences. The title of the film is a reference to the opening line of a poem in Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's novel ''En glad Gut'' (A Happy Boy): "Løft ditt hode, du raske gutt!"
