Herbert Elkuch
Herbert Elkuch (born 30 December 1952) is a politician from Liechtenstein who served in the Landtag of Liechtenstein from 2013 to 2025. Life In 1992, Elkuch founded and owns ''Elkuch Mechanik AG'' in Eschen. In 2013, he was elected to the Landtag of Liechtenstein as a member of The Independents. In August 2018 Landtag member Erich Hasler was expelled from The Independents under controversial circumstances. Elkuch, along with Thomas Rehak, sided with Hasler and left the party. The following month, the three men founded the Democrats for Liechtenstein. In the 2021 Liechtenstein general election General elections were held in Liechtenstein on 7 February 2021 to elect the 25 members of the Landtag of Liechtenstein, Landtag. Schellenberg
Schellenberg (; dialectal: ''Schällabärg'') is a municipality in the lowland area of Liechtenstein, on the banks of the Rhine. , it has a population of 1,107 and covers an area of History Early history The area was first settled by Celts, then by Rhaetians. Rome conquered the area in 15 BC, and made it part of the province of Rhaetia. The Province later became a county (countship) under Charlemagne. The county was repeatedly divided among heirs. The Lordship of Schellenberg was purchased by the Counts of Vaduz in 1437 and the two states have been united in fact ever since. After the Swabian War in 1499, both came under Austrian suzerainty. ''Liechtensteiner Vaterland'' (; lit. "Liechtenstein Fatherland") is the largest daily newspaper in Liechtenstein. Published by Vaduzer Medienhaus AG, it is the official newspaper of the Patriotic Union party. History In January 1936, Christian-Social People's Party and Liechtenstein Homeland Service merged to form the Patriotic Union. As a result, the parties respective newspapers, the '' Liechtensteiner Nachrichten'' and ''Stimme für heimische Wirtschaft, Kultur und Volkstum'' merged to form the ''Liechtensteiner Vaterland'' with Carl Freiherr von Vogelsang as the first editor in chief. The newspaper came under controversy in January 1937 when Vogelsang publicly denounced Jews living in Liechtenstein and sent numerous letters detailing them to officials in Nazi Germany. 2021 Liechtenstein General Election
General elections were held in Liechtenstein on 7 February 2021 to elect the 25 members of the Landtag of Liechtenstein, Landtag. The Patriotic Union (Liechtenstein), Patriotic Union (VU) and Progressive Citizens' Party (FBP) both won ten seats, with the VU receiving just 42 votes more than the FBP. The Independents (Liechtenstein), The Independents (DU), which finished third in the 2017 Liechtenstein general election, 2017 elections but then suffered a split in 2018 when three of its five MPs broke away to form Democrats for Liechtenstein (DpL), failed to win a seat, while DpL won two. The Free List (Liechtenstein), Free List retained its three seats, becoming the third-largest party in the Landtag. Voter turnout was 78%. Thomas Rehak
Thomas Rehak (born 21 January 1971) is an engineer and politician from Liechtenstein who has served in the Landtag of Liechtenstein since 2017. He is the current leader of the Democrats for Liechtenstein, since 2018. Early life Rehak was born on 21 January 1971 in Chur, Switzerland as the son of heating engineer Franz Rehak and his mother hairdresser Agnes Kindle as one of three children. He attended primary school in Triesen from 1978 to 1983 and then high school from 1983 to 1987. He held an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer from 1987 to 1991 then from 1992 to 1995 he studied at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons in Chur. Career From 1996 to 1999 he worked as a service engineer at the Alcatel-Lucent in Zurich, then TeleNet project manager at Telecom Liechtenstein.
