Herbert Brown (Australian Politician)
Herbert Harrington Brown (12 March 1839 – 1 July 1929) was an Australian politician. He was born at Parramatta, New South Wales, Parramatta to John and Charlotte Brown, who farmed in the upper Paterson River, Paterson district from 1843. He was educated at Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle and Cook's River, and on 4 November 1860 married Harriet Lindeman, with whom he had six children. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Electoral district of Paterson, Paterson at the 1875 Paterson colonial by-election, by-election in 1875. The seat was replaced by Electoral district of Durham, Durham in 1880, and Brown held the seat until his defeat in 1898. When the party system emerged he was initially a Free Trade Party, Free Trader, but he drifted towards the Protectionist Party, Protectionists over the years. He died in Sydney on . References

Herbert Brown (March 6, 1848 – May 12, 1913) was an American ornithologist and journalist who lived and worked in Arizona. He founded the Audubon Society of Arizona along with Harriet Blake and his collections of natural history specimens are now a part of the University of Arizona. Biography Herbert Brown was born in Winchester, Virginia, and moved to Tucson to work in 1873. He worked in various industries, including timber, mining and trade, before becoming a reporter for the ''Arizona Daily Star'' in the 1870s. He then became an administrator of the Territorial Land Office but a change in the administration led to his resignation in 1886 to join the ''Tucson Citizen'', a newspaper that he later acquired. After meeting Edward William Nelson in 1883, he took an interest in natural history and began to collect specimens of the local fauna and flora. Herbert Charles Brown (1874–1940) was a senior Australian public servant best known for his time as Commonwealth Auditor-General in the late 1930s. Life and career Brown was born in 1874, and joined the New South Wales public service in 1891. Brown served for 12-years in the Postmaster-General's Department, before joining the Department of Home Affairs. He then became an Assistant Secretary in the Department of Works and Railways, then a chief clerk and accountant in the Prime Minister's Department. In 1928, Brown was appointed Secretary of the Department of Markets. He became Secretary of the expanded Department of Markets and Transport at the end of that year. The United States Bureau of Efficiency was a bureau under the United States federal government from 1916 to 1933. The Woodrow Wilson administration established this bureau for creating efficiency ratings "for the classified service in the several executive departments in the District of Columbia". ''Buck Privates Come Home'' is a 1947 American comedy film directed by Charles Barton and starring the team of Abbott and Costello.
