Her Story (video Game)
''Her Story'' is an interactive film video game written and directed by Sam Barlow. It was released on 24 June 2015 for iOS, OS X, and Windows, and the following year for Android. In the game, the player searches and sorts through a database of video clips from fictional police interviews, and uses the clips to solve the case of a missing man. The police interviews focus on the man's wife, Hannah Smith, portrayed by British musician Viva Seifert. The game is Barlow's first project since his departure from Climax Studios, after which he became independent. He wanted to develop a game that was dependent on the narrative, and avoided working on the game until he was settled on an idea that was possible to execute. Barlow eventually decided to create a police procedural game, and incorporate live action footage. He conducted research for the game by watching existing police interviews. Sam Barlow (game Designer)
Sam Barlow is a British video game designer, best known as the writer and designer of '' Her Story'', the two British ''Silent Hill'' games '' Silent Hill: Origins'' and '' Silent Hill: Shattered Memories'', '' Telling Lies'' and ''Immortality''. He previously worked as a game director at Climax Studios, before leaving in 2014 to become an indie game developer. He published his first independent game, '' Her Story'', in June 2015, his first venture in a genre he has called the "desktop thriller." In 2017 he founded Half Mermaid, a video game production company based in Brooklyn, New York. Interactive fiction Barlow was active in the interactive fiction scene of the late 1990s, most notably releasing the game ''Aisle'' in 1999. It won the XYZZY Award for Best Use of Medium. ''Telling Lies'' (stylized as ''telling l!es'') is a narrative video game developed by Sam Barlow and Furious Bee and published by Annapurna Interactive in August 2019 for iOS, macOS, and Windows. Ports for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One were released in April 2020.
