High Explosive Research
High Explosive Research (HER) was the British project to develop atomic bombs independently after the Second World War. This decision was taken by a cabinet sub-committee on 8 January 1947, in response to apprehension of an American return to isolationism, fears that Britain might lose its great power status, and the actions by the United States to withdraw unilaterally from sharing of nuclear technology under the 1943 Quebec Agreement. The decision was publicly announced in the House of Commons on 12 May 1948. HER was a civil project, not a military one. Staff were drawn from and recruited into the Civil Service, and were paid Civil Service salaries. It was headed by Lord Portal, as Controller of Production, Atomic Energy, in the Ministry of Supply. An Atomic Energy Research Establishment was located at a former airfield, Harwell, in Berkshire, under the direction of John Cockcroft. The first nuclear reactor in the UK, a small research reactor known as GLEEP, went ...

Hydroxyethylrutosides (oxerutins, ''O''-beta-hydroxyethyl-rutosides, HR, or HER) are hydroxyethyl derivatives of rutosides. Examples include: * Monoxerutin * Dihydroxyethylrutoside * Troxerutin * Tetrahydroxyethylrutoside Oxerutins are semisynthetic derivatives of plant constituents. Although they are closely related to the natural flavonoid rutin, hydroxyethylrutosides are not found in food. The only way to take them is in a supplement. Health benefits Relvène (1967 French version), Venoruton (1962 Swiss version), and Paroven are mixtures of hydroxyethyl rutinosides. Hydroxyethylrutosides are used in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a medical condition characterized by blood pooling in the veins, leading to increased pressure and strain on the vein walls. HER2/neu
Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 is a protein that normally resides in the membranes of cells and is encoded by the ''ERBB2'' gene. ERBB is abbreviated from erythroblastic oncogene B, a gene originally isolated from the avian genome. The human protein is also frequently referred to as HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) or CD340 ( cluster of differentiation 340). HER2 is a member of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER/EGFR/ERBB) family. But contrary to other members of the ERBB family, HER2 does not directly bind ligand. HER2 activation results from heterodimerization with another ERBB member or by homodimerization when HER2 concentration are high, for instance in cancer. Amplification or over-expression of this oncogene has been shown to play an important role in the development and progression of certain aggressive types of breast cancer. In recent years the protein has become an important biomarker and target of therapy for approximately 30% ...

Hydrogen Evolution Reaction
Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is a chemical reaction that yields H2. The conversion of protons to H2 requires reducing equivalents and usually a catalyst. In nature, HER is catalyzed by hydrogenase enzymes which rely on iron- and nickel-based catalysts. Commercial electrolyzers typically employ supported nickel-based catalysts. HER in electrolysis HER is a key reaction which occurs in the electrolysis of water for the production of hydrogen for both industrial energy applications, as well as small-scale laboratory research. Due to the abundance of water on Earth, hydrogen production poses a potentially scalable process for fuel generation. This is an alternative to steam methane reforming for hydrogen production, which has significant greenhouse gas emissions, and as such scientists are looking to improve and scale up electrolysis processes that have fewer emissions. Electrolysis mechanism In acidic conditions, the hydrogen evolution reaction follows the formula: : In ...
