Heorhiy (other)
Heorhiy or Heorhy is used in Ukrainian (and occasionally Belarusian) as the equivalent of George or Georgiy. These forms of Yuri inspired ''Hiuri'' and ''Hyuri'' of Portuguese. Ukrainian Language
Ukrainian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language, spoken primarily in Ukraine. It is the first language, first (native) language of a large majority of Ukrainians. Belarusian Language
Belarusian (, ) is an East Slavic languages, East Slavic language. It is one of the two Languages of Belarus, official languages in Belarus, the other being Russian language, Russian. It is also spoken in parts of Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, and the United States by the Belarusian diaspora. Before Belarus Dissolution of the Soviet Union, gained independence in 1991, the language was known in English language, English as ''Byelorussian'' or ''Belorussian'', or alternatively as ''White Russian''. Heorhiy Buschan
Heorhiy Mykolayovych Bushchan (, born 31 May 1994) is a Ukrainian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab and the Ukraine national team. Club career Dynamo Kyiv Heorhiy began playing football in Odesa, where he attended Chornomorets Odesa football school. When he was fourteen, Bushchan moved to Kyiv, where he began playing for Dynamo Kyiv youth and reserve squads. He was a part of Dynamo's first team squad on and off from the 2011–12 season onwards. He made his debut until 20 August 2017, when he helped his team to a 4–1 Ukrainian Premier League victory over Stal Kamianske at NSC "Olimpiyskiy". On 2 November 2017, he made his UEFA Europa League debut in a 1–0 victory over Young Boys Bern at Stade de Suisse. Heorhiy Gina
Heorhiy Mykolayovych Gina (; 16 April 1932 – 19 May 2025) better known as Yuriy Gina, was a Ukrainian violinist, composer, conductor, folklorist and teacher. Career Gina began his career in 1947 as a violinist and accordionist at the Chernivchanka restaurant in Chernivtsi. He graduated from the Chernivtsi Music College and the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in 1956. He then became a music teacher, and director of Chernivtsi Children's Music School No. 1. In 1975, he became artistic director and conductor of the chamber orchestra of the Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic. Gina died on 19 May 2025, at the age of 93. Heorhiy Gongadze
Georgiy Ruslanovych Gongadze (21 May 1969 – 17 September 2000) was a Ukrainian journalist who was kidnapped and murdered in 2000 near Kyiv. He founded the online newspaper ''Ukrainska Pravda'' along with Olena Prytula in 2000. He was born in Tbilisi to a Ukrainian mother and a Georgian father. The circumstances of his death became a national scandal and a focus for protests against then-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. During the Cassette Scandal, audiotapes were released on which Kuchma, Volodymyr Lytvyn and other top-level administration officials are heard discussing the need to silence Gongadze for his online news reports about high-level corruption. Former Interior Minister Yuriy Kravchenko died of two gunshot wounds to the head on 4 March 2005, just hours before he was to begin providing testimony as a witness in the case. Kravchenko was the superior of the four policemen who were charged with Gongadze's murder soon after Kravchenko's death.

Georgy Petrovich Kondratyev (; ; born 7 January 1960) is a Belarusian football coach and former Belarusian and Soviet footballer. From 2011 to 2014 and 2021 to 2023, he was in charge of the Belarus national team. In 2018, he managed Belshina Bobruisk. International career Kondratyev made his debut for the Soviet Union on 10 October 1984 in a 1986 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Norway. He scored 4 goals for the national team, including two in another World Cup qualifier, against Switzerland on 2 May 1985. He was however not selected for the World Cup squad. Heorhiy Kirpa
Heorhiy Mykolayovych Kirpa () (20 July 1946 in Klubivka, Khmelnytskyi Oblast – 27 December 2004 in Bortnychi, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian railway manager, statesman and politician, best known as the head of the Ukrzaliznytsia national railway company and Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications under President Leonid Kuchma. Political career In May 2002, Kirpa was appointed Minister of Transport by the then President Leonid Kuchma and on April 23 was awarded an honourable title Hero of Ukraine. In a publicly debated move in 2003, the President placed paramilitary railroad armed forces under the direction of Kirpa. Kirpa was a staunch supporter of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, and the BBC described him as "one of the most influential figures" in Yanukovych's government. Death Heorhiy Kirpa was found shot dead at his holiday home in Bortnychi (the outskirt of Kyiv), on 27 December 2004. The official police report states that Kirpa committed suicide.

Heorhiy Maiboroda
Heorhiy Ilarionovych Maiboroda (6 December 1992) was a Soviet and Ukrainian composer. People's Artist of the USSR (1960). Maiboroda, whose brother Platon Maiboroda was also a composer (mainly of songs), studied at the Glière College of Music in Kyiv, where he studied under Levko Revutsky, graduating in 1941 and teaching there from 1952 to 1958. From 1967 to 1968 he was head of the Composers Union of Ukraine. His musical career was based in Ukraine, and he set several operas to Ukrainian librettos, including ''Yaroslav the Wise'' (1973, published 1975), ''Arsenal'' (published 1961), ''Mylana'' (published 1960), and ''Taras Shevchenko'' (1964, published 1968; based on the life of the Ukrainian artist and poet of that name), all of which were produced at the Kyiv Opera House. Heorhiy Pohosov
Heorhiy Vadimovich Pohosov (; born 14 July 1960), also known as George Pogosov, is a retired Soviet/ Ukrainian sabre fencer. He won two Olympic medals. Biography Pohosov has a master's degree in physical education with a focus in fencing. He graduated from the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. His first coach was Mikhail Shimshovich. Pohosov was the coach of the Ukrainian National Team before coming to the US. In 1999, Pohosov came to Stanford University's fencing program. He is the co-head coach for the Stanford men’s and women’s varsity fencing teams as well as the head coach for the Cardinal Fencing Club, Stanford's recreational fencing outlet. In addition to his Olympic medals, his honors include Junior World Champion and six-time World Champion (1983.1985.1986.1987,1989.1990). Heorhiy Pyatakov
Georgy Leonidovich Pyatakov (; ; 6 August 1890 – 30 January 1937) was a Ukrainian revolutionary and Soviet politician. He was a leading Bolshevik in Ukraine during and after the Russian Revolution of 1917. Born in Kiev Governorate, Pyatakov was expelled from St Petersburg University in 1910 and later that year joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. He was arrested in 1912 and exiled to Siberia, but in 1914 escaped to Switzerland, where he worked with Vladimir Lenin. Pyatakov returned to Ukraine after the February Revolution of 1917 and was elected the chairman of the party's Kiev committee, and following the October Revolution was elected the first secretary of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
