Henson Park
Henson Park is a multi purpose sports ground in Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia. History Henson Park was established in 1933 on the site of Daley's brick pit, Thomas Daley operated the Standsure Brick Company from 1886 to 1914. The brickworks occupied 9 acres (3.6 ha) and employed approximately 60 people. When the brickworks closed the pits filled with rain and ground water. The largest waterhole was known as "The Blue Hole" and was 40 to 80 feet in places (12.2 to 24.4 metres). Marrickville Council purchased the site in 1923 as it was a serious danger. Unfortunately nine young boys drowned in the old water hole. In 1932 a grant was received to level the ground and work commenced as part of the Unemployment Relief Scheme. The oval is set within a shallow hollow, formed by the upper edges of the former brickpit. Henson is a ghost town in Hinsdale County, Colorado, United States. Its elevation is . Henson's name has historically been spelled several different ways, including Hansen, Hanson, Hensen, and Honsen; the Board on Geographic Names officially supported the current spelling in 1896. Henson was named for Henson Creek, which was named for a pioneer settler. The Henson post office operated from May 17, 1883, until November 30, 1913. Henson is the site of the Ute-Ulay Mine, now abandoned. Climate Climate type is dominated by the winter season, a long, bitterly cold period with short, clear days, relatively little precipitation mostly in the form of snow, and low humidity. Henson Glacier (Greenland)
Henson Glacier (), is one of the major glaciers in northern Greenland. It was named in 1917 for African-American Arctic explorer Matthew Henson by Knud Rasmussen during the Second Thule Expedition to north Greenland. The Henson Gletscher Formation, which preserves trilobites and echinoderm fossils, among others, is named after this glacier. Geography The Henson Glacier originates in the Greenland Ice Cap. It is roughly north–south oriented and has its terminus at the head of the J.P. Koch Fjord. The Expedition Glacier discharges from the west north of the terminus of the Henson Glacier, between the head of the fjord and Navarana Fjord on the Freuchen Land side. Henson Creek is a stream in Hinsdale County, Colorado, United States. It rises near Sunshine Mountain in the San Juan Mountains. It merges with Lake Fork Gunnison River in the town of Lake City. North Fork Henson Creek North Fork Henson Creek joins Henson Creek near Capitol City, Colorado. From there, Henson Creek flows generally eastward and parallels Hinsdale County Road 20, here part of the Alpine Loop National Back Country Byway. It flows through Henson, Colorado, now a ghost town and the location of the abandoned Ute-Ulay Mine. Abandoned dam An old hydroelectric dam (38.020972 N, 107.378837 W) that supplied power for the mine lies on the creek at the Ute-Ulay mine site. Called the Hidden Treasure Dam, it burst in 1973 causing flooding and pollution downstream. The dam still stands and is visible from the road, but with a big hole in it. The Lillie Range () in Antarctica extends northward from the Prince Olav Mountains (in the vicinity of Mount Fisher) to the Ross Ice Shelf. Mounts Hall, Daniel, Krebs and Mason are in the range. Naming The Lillie Range was named by the Southern Party of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) (1963–64) for A.R. Lillie, professor of geology at the University of Auckland. Location The Lillie Range lies to the east of the lower Gough Glacier and to the west of the mouth of the Liv Glacier, extending along the Ross Ice Shelf to the north. The Wright Ice Piedmont () is an ice piedmont extending westward from Lanchester Bay along the west coast of Graham Land in Antarctica. Location The Wright Ice Piedmont lies on the Davis Coast on the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula. It faces Trinity Island to the northwest across Orléans Strait.
