Henry Trotter (Indian Army Officer)
Lieutenant Colonel Sir Henry Trotter, (30 August 1841 – 25 September 1919) was a British Indian Army officer in the Royal Engineers, an author, and an explorer of Central Asia. Biography Trotter attended Addiscombe Military Seminary from 1858 to 1860, and was awarded his commission in the Royal Engineers, Bengal on 8 June 1860. He sailed to India in 1862, and from 1863 to 1875 served on the Great Trigonometric Survey. He was a member of the Second Yarkand Mission to Xinjiang to visit the territory ruled by Yakub Beg: the mission had 350 support staff and 6,476 porters, and was led by Sir Thomas Douglas Forsyth. Among the other Indian Army officers were Thomas E. Gordon, John Biddulph, Henry Bellew, Ferdinand Stoliczka and R. A. Champman. During the exhibition Trotter was the first recorded European to have shot an Ovis Poli. Henry Dundas Trotter
Henry Dundas Trotter (1802–1859) was a Scottish officer of the Royal Navy, who reached the rank of rear-admiral. Early life The third son of Alexander Trotter of Dreghorn, near Edinburgh, he was born on 19 September 1802. He entered the Royal Naval College at Portsmouth in 1815. Career In February 1818 joined the ''Ister'' at Leith. From her in May he was sent to the ''Eden'' of 26 guns, going out to the East Indies, and in her during 1819 taking part in the expedition against the pirates of the Persian Gulf, under Captain Francis Augustus Collier. In March 1821 he was moved to the ''Leander'', flagship of Sir Henry Blackwood, by whom he was appointed acting lieutenant. Henry John Trotter (8 December 1835 – 6 December 1888) was an English barrister, railway director and Conservative Party politician. Trotter was the son of the Lieutenant—Colonel William Trotter, of Bishop Auckland and his wife Henrietta Skene. He was educated at Oriel College, Oxford and was called to the bar at Inner Temple in 1864.
