Henry Thornton (cricketer)
Henry Thornton (born 16 December 1996) is an Australian cricketer who plays for the South Australian cricket team and the Adelaide Strikers. He made his List A debut for Cricket Australia XI against Pakistanis during their tour of Australia on 10 January 2017. Domestic career Thornton made his Twenty20 debut playing for the Sydney Sixers in the 2016–17 Big Bash League against the Brisbane Heat on 3 January 2017. He opened the bowling and bowled his full four overs with figures of 1/40. Though it was the only BBL match he played for the season, he made his List A debut a week later playing for Cricket Australia XI in a tour match against Pakistan. He bowled 10 overs, including a maiden, and had figures of 3/69. Later in the season Thornton played a Twenty20 tour match against Sri Lanka, this time playing for the invitational team Prime Minister's XI. He bowled 2.1 overs with figures of 0/24. Kogarah () is a suburb of Southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Kogarah is located 14 kilometres (9 miles) south-west of the Sydney central business district and is considered to be the centre of the St George area. The One-Day Cup, for which the prize was renamed the Dean Jones Trophy from the 2024–25 season, is an Australian domestic List A 50-over limited-overs cricket tournament. It has had many different names, formats and teams since the inaugural 1969-1970 season. Initially a knockout cup, the competition now features a single round-robin followed by a finals series. The tournament is contested between teams representing the six states of Australia, who also compete in the first-class Sheffield Shield. 2024-25 One-Day Cup (Australia)
A coxless four, abbreviated as a 4- and also called a straight four, is a racing shell used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). As there is no coxswain, the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. Michael Bevan Medal
The Michael Bevan Medal is awarded to the player of the match in the One-Day Cup final in Australian domestic cricket. Named after former Australian international cricketer, Michael Bevan, the medal was minted and first awarded in 2025. History The Michael Bevan Medal was created as a result of an initiative from Cricket Australia to re-name the One-Day Cup after a legend of one-day cricket in Australia, in the lead up to the 2024-25 season. The process included a fan vote but the final decision was decided and ratified by the Cricket Australia board, following a recommendation from the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. Bevan received the third most votes in the fan vote, and while the One-Day Cup trophy was named after Dean Jones, Bevan was honoured with the player of the match award being named after him. The 2024–25 Sheffield Shield season was the 123rd season of the Australian inter-state domestic first-class cricket competition. Cricket Australia revealed the season fixtures in July of 2024. The season started on 8 October 2024 and the final was played on 26 March 2025. 2017–18 JLT One-Day Cup
The 2017 JLT One-Day Cup was the 48th season of the official List A domestic cricket competition in Australia. It was played over a four-week period at the start of the domestic season to separate its schedule from the Sheffield Shield season. The tournament was held in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart, with all 23 matches to be broadcast live on the Cricket Australia website and app. It was the first time in more than a decade that neither the Nine Network nor Fox Sports (Australia) have hosted a television broadcast of the tournament. The tournament was sponsored by Jardine Lloyd Thompson. New South Wales were the defending champions. They were eliminated from the tournament after losing their final group fixture to Victoria, when the match was abandoned due to an unsafe pitch.
