Henry Stephen (chemist)
Henry Stephen Order of the British Empire, OBE, DSc. (10 July 1889 – 6 July 1965) was an England, English chemist known for inventing the Stephen reaction, Stephen Reaction, a method of deriving aldehydes (R-CHO) from nitriles (R-CN). Career Leonard Henry Nelson Stephen, later known as Henry Stephen, was born at 11 Dalton Terrace, Manchester, son of John Stephen, printer, and Mary Eliza (née Owen). He studied chemistry under Dr Chaim Weizmann at Victoria University of Manchester. Along with Dr. J. E. Myers, Stephen contributed to the British World War I effort by developing a process to make mustard gas that was more rapid than the process being used by the Germans. In 1920, both received the OBE award for their work. He received his DSc degree from Victoria University of Manchester in 1920 and continued on as a senior lecturer. Henry Augustus Stephen Pierre (15 July 1941 – 5 April 2021) was one of the earliest Venezuelan proponents of rock and roll music. Biography Henry Stephen was born in Cabimas, Zulia state, Venezuela. He once belonged to the "Los Impala" music group, and later became a solo artist with the 1969 hit song "Limón, Limonero". In 1974, RCA Records awarded him a Gold record for selling one million copies of the song. Later in his career, he became an actor in Venezuelan telenovelas. Stephen died from COVID-19 in Caracas on 5 April 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Venezuela. Henry John Stephen
Henry John Stephen (1787–1864) was an English legal writer and serjeant-at-law. Life Born on St Kitts in the West Indies on 18 January 1787, he was the second son of James Stephen (1758–1832); James Stephen (1789–1859) and George Stephen were his brothers. He was a student at St John's College, Cambridge, but did not graduate. Stephen was called to the bar on 24 November 1815. Nervous and shy, though an accomplished lawyer, he was not successful as a barrister, but became known as a legal writer. He was promoted as a serjeant-at-law in 1828, and was a member of the common-law commission appointed that year. In 1842 Stephen was on a commission on forgery of exchequer bills, and in the same year became commissioner of bankruptcy at Bristol, with Matthew Davenport Hill as his colleague. Henry Stephen (judge)
Sir Matthew Henry Stephen (5 December 1828 – 1 April 1920), was a politician and Puisne Judge in New South Wales. The Stephen family is a prominent legal dynasty in Australia. Stephen was the eldest son of the Hon. Sir Alfred Stephen (1802–1894), who would later become Chief Justice of NSW and Lieutenant-Governor of NSW, and was born at Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (later named Tasmania). He was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1850, and was appointed a Queen's Counsel (QC) in 1879. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Mudgee from December 1869 to December 1871, and was a Supreme Court Judge from 1887. He married on 30 September 1854, Caroline Sibella, daughter of Henry Tudor Shadforth, formerly of the 57th Regiment, and Usher of the Black Rod, New South Wales.
