Henry Reed Cooper
Henry Reed Cooper (3 September 1940 – 24 August 2023) was a Liberian judge. He served as Chief Justice of Liberia from 2003 to 2006, during the Gyude Bryant transitional government, following the Second Liberian Civil War. Early life and career Henry Reed Cooper was born on 3 September 1940 in Monrovia. He was a Congo person. His father was Jesse Reed Cooper, director of the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation. He attended St. Patrick's Elementary School, and received a high school education from the College of West Africa, graduating in 1960. He graduated first from the University of Liberia and then earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law. Chief Justice Of Liberia
The chief justice of Liberia is the head of the judicial branch of the Government of the Republic of Liberia and the chief judge of the Supreme Court of Liberia. Appointment and term Article 54(c) of the Constitution stipulates that the chief justice is appointed by the president of Liberia and confirmed by the Senate. Per Article 68, eligibility for the position of chief justice requires that the candidate: *be a citizen of Liberia; *be of good moral character; *have been a counselor of the Supreme Court Bar for at least five years. Article 71 states that the chief justice "shall hold their offices during good behavior." Mary Tanyonoh Broh (born in 1951) is the former mayor of Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. She first served the Liberian government in March 2006 as the Special Projects Coordinator for President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's executive staff. In 2007, she was promoted to direct the Passport Bureau in a successful attempt to curtail and eliminate corruption and bribery within the division. In 2008, Broh became the Deputy Director of the National Port Authority. In February 2009, she was selected to serve as Acting Mayor of Monrovia in place of the previous mayor, Ophelia Hoff Saytumah, in the President's effort to legitimize the Monrovia City Corporation's (MCC) administrative and financial management. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (born Ellen Eugenia Johnson, 29 October 1938) is a Liberian politician who served as the 24th president of Liberia from 2006 to 2018. Sirleaf was the first elected female head of state in Africa. Sirleaf was born in Monrovia to a Gola father and Kru-German mother. She was educated at the College of West Africa. Joseph Rudolph Grimes (October 31, 1923 – September 7, 2007) was a Liberian statesman. A trained lawyer, he served as Secretary of State from 1960 to 1972. Early life Grimes was born on October 31, 1923, to Louis Arthur Grimes and Victoria Grimes. He was educated at the College of West Africa (now Methodist University of Liberia) before graduating from Liberia College (now University of Liberia) with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
