Henry Now
Henry Now are an experimental music and free improvising group based in the United Kingdom, and comprises some of the former members of Henry Cow, namely Fred Frith, Tim Hodgkinson, Chris Cutler, John Greaves and Annemarie Roelofs. They have performed in several European countries, including Italy, the Czech Republic and Spain, and featured guest musician in their first concert. History Since the demise of Henry Cow in 1978, the members have kept in touch and performed together from time to time. In 2006, Frith, Hodgkinson and Cutler played at The Stone in New York City (stressing that "This is not Henry Cow"), and in 2014, Henry Cow reunited to perform three concerts in memory of their bassoonist, Lindsay Cooper who had died earlier that year. In 2022, Greaves proposed to Frith, Hodgkinson and Cutler that they play at a concert Italian musician and producer Max Marchini had organised for his birthday party in Piacenza, Italy. Experimental Music
Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. Elements of experimental music include Indeterminacy in music, indeterminacy, in which the composer introduces the elements of chance or unpredictability with regard to either the composition or its performance. Slapp Happy
Slapp Happy was a German/English avant-pop group, formed in Germany in 1972. Their lineup consisted of Anthony Moore (keyboards), Peter Blegvad (guitar) and Dagmar Krause (vocals). The band members moved to England in 1974 where they merged with Henry Cow, but the merger ended soon afterwards and Slapp Happy split up. Slapp Happy's sound was characterised by Dagmar Krause's unique vocal style. From 1982 there have been brief reunions to create an opera called ''Camera'', record the album '' Ça Va'' in 1998, and perform shows around the world. It was created by Ludicorp in 2004 and was previously a common way for amateur and professional photographers to host high-resolution photos. Punkcast.com was an online video site that covered the NYC underground music scene. The site, though not active, remains with an archive of videos from 1997 to 2011. Newer videos are now on the Punkcast YouTube channel. History Background Punkcast's founder Joly MacFie was born in England and during the punk scene in the late 70s and early 80s sold badges and pins through his company Better Badges, before in 1983 selling the business to his staff and moving to New York. Early years Punkcast was started in September 1997 to cover the visit to NYC of punk band One Way System, in order to demonstrate the internet's broadcast potential to the band's manager John Bentham who had run Jettisoundz, a major creator/distributor of punk video in the UK. History and profile ''Rockdelux'' was first published in November 1984, and celebrated its 200th edition in October 2002, when it released a list of the 200 greatest international albums of all time, according to the magazine's staff. ''Rockdeluxs brief was to serve a specific section of the public who are passionate about music, and its focus was on new and more alternative artists from both Spain and the outside world (termed "international"). L'Auditori () is a modern building of 42,000 square metres designed by the architect Rafael Moneo, opened on 22 March 1999, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Rock Bottom (album)
''Rock Bottom'' is the second solo album by English musician Robert Wyatt. It was released on 26 July 1974 by Virgin Records. The album was produced by Pink Floyd's drummer Nick Mason, and was recorded following a 1973 accident which left Wyatt a paraplegic. He enlisted musicians including Ivor Cutler, Hugh Hopper, Richard Sinclair, Laurie Allan, Mike Oldfield and Fred Frith in the recording. Background The band Matching Mole disbanded soon after the release of '' Little Red Record'' in 1972, and Wyatt began composing the material that later appeared on ''Rock Bottom''. The album's preparation was interrupted by an accident on the night of 1 June 1973.
